Why oh why do people wait until you're packing until they ask for a request!? Did a gig on Friday, great fun in a local pub, dancing all night.

I gave a warning, as you do, that I'd got time left to play two tunes. played them, said goodnight and started packing up, switched the lappy off, along with speakers and lights.... A girl came up and started pestering me to play ABBA, I'm sorry I said but I've finished and I've switched everything off etc.. She continued....Why didn't you come and ask me earlier I said (having seen her in the pub for most of the night) Oh go on please, please, eyelids fluttering. It didn't get nasty or stressy but just left me feeling a tad down. To finish on a bit of a downer is a shame after a great night.

Every gig its like this, just water off a ducks back these days. I just say something like theres a limiter kicks in at (insert time here) and cant go on. Or that manager told you to finish on dot. To be honest most whant you to finish on time so they can get drunks out and get home themselves

yeah we always get that aswell, you turn around and say night night have a safe journey home, shut everything down and then have the local drunk coming up and pestering you and after repeatidly saying know the answer still doesnt seem to go in :)

i tend now to do an encore, i know this will happen, so when the last track is played, i just switch the lights off, wait 5 mins to see if i,ll get the "oh one more please", then i,m ready to play one.

Yeah, I try to build in time for an encore, if I remember.

Another classic is to play the last song, kill the lights, drop the volume to about half and play The Doors 'When the Music's Over'... most people seem to get it at that point :D

there was a brilliant dj round me very very entertaining who had a song god only knows where he got it but the chorus had the line in it

" You've had a good time now drink your drinks and ...... off "

went down a total storm in the local was hilarious and yep people got the message.
