I had a last minute gig last night ( spoke about it in another thread) and it was a stars in thier eyes/disco night to raise funds for local footy team.
Anyway arrived and set up, so far so good, played background music till about 8.20, whilst I asked one of the football team to sell keys for £1 to the crowd. Then about 8.30, i invited everyone to come up and try thier key in the big red box which was padlocked, this took me to 8.50, and the winner recieved a bottle of Vodka. Then between 9 - 10 we had the stars in thier eyes bit...went down well and people enjoyed it, then it was buffet time.
During the buffet a woman whose boyfriend had lost the stars in thier eyes game came up and said to me to put the karaoke on....i explained thier was no karaoke it was 8 tracks on stars in thier eyes only, she said no you were booked to do karaoke as well, i explained that i wasn't and only had the 8 tracks originally chosen for Stars, she then asked if they could be fgiven the mics just to sing along to songs, i explained i don't allow this especially as a few people had a few too many to drink by this point and i prefer my amp and speakers in one piece, as well as my mics.
Anyway she wasn't happy and wondered off, Her boyfriend then came up and started the same thing...again explained no and said why. This ended up going all night untill the team organiser spotted it and came up and grabbed the guy and basically kicked him out...i then started getting it in the neck from other members of the crowd as thier pal had been kicked out and i explained it was nowt to do with me, but it was the organiser who done it as he could see th guy had too much to drink and was coming close to getting the party shut down....
apart from that it was a good night - anyone else had a similar experiance?
