Just a quicky:

Still contemplating my scanner / moving head purchase. Now I know I dismissed I-solution stuff, but I'm being swayed a little. Have a feeling the Abstract VRX kit will be too expensive anyway.

So what about the I-Rock 6? Thinking maybe two scans and two barrels.

Dragon, I think you went down the I-Rock route - how do these stand up to the competition. Would I be right in thinking these have seperate colour and gobo wheels? What are the master slave programmes like?

Your right-I worked with a DJ who was using these last year--they look really big and heavy.

And not on the prolight web site anymore, so can't actually find anywhere that says how heavy and how big

That's the 5B, is the 6B exactly the same?

the 5b's are exactly the same spec. and have seperate colour / gobo wheels. yes they are MASSIVE but they are about the same size as abstracts vrx fixtures, they look great when linked master/slave. i run 2 ir5b's, 2 ishow 3 flowers and and ir4c colour changer in the centre, linked master/slave and they look amazing. i put some wedding fayre pics in the gallery a while back if you want an idea of scale.

Will go look - are you saying that the I-rock 6B is same spec as the 5B?

The 6B has seperate colour and gobo? Anyone know how may colours / gobo's?

Saw these in demo, very nice (saw the discharge version).

Very sharp images, and bright beams, the gobos are good, and the unit has very vivid colours.

Ok, last ask as I am fairly certain I'm going for a set of 2 scans and 2 barrels (ELC version not discharge, but the demo I saw the ELC still looks nice and bright).

Do you need to have the i-solution controller or will the range operate master slave without a controler present. Can you use a standard CA-8 or does it have to be the i-solution controller and finally I assume you can use any universal DMX controller to run these with other DMX effects?

I've got a set of the I-Moves too and was looking forward to getting more of the i-solution range....till I saw the size of them. They are HUGE!.

really the i-rocks are massive and chunky .... i actually asked my supplier why ... the reply .....the only answer we can come up with is so you can say

"hey everyone look how huge and impressive my lights are"

You would think that they'd be able to make a nice compact light these days. The older I get the smaller I want my gear.

Oh well, i am soon to be mr huge look at how big mine are disco!

Just bought a pair of the IR 6B's and waiting to sort out a pair of the 6S. But if you're saying they are similar sizes to the VRX range, that was my other choice. Seen a video of them too and they did look fantastic.

Also been in touch with prolight (and I can honestly say they have been very very helpful) who say they will work fine with a CA-8, can supply barrels if I need them and so on.

So Will have to let you know what i think when they arrive - and if they really really are silly huge, I guess I'll just have to sell them on!

Dragon - if the range is huge, aren't the bits you have massive too?

nope the i moves quite compact and go on the floor and the i-shows are .5kg lighter than datamoons probably because of plastic casing and id say 30cm x 30cm ish and the dynamos ...... bags of sugar job.

Well thank god for winch stands (and yes I checked and mine will take the weight!).

Watch this space, I will report back when I have them up and running.

Looking for a new roadie anyway, so maybe need to advertise for one built like a brick.....

Thanks again for all the comments, always apreciated!

Well, always wondered why I needed such a big van - now I have the answer!

So that's a set of three datamoons and a pair of IR-6B's for my show. Was considering a pair of IR-6S to compliment, but have seen a tasty pair of IS-6B's, so think I might go for a complete barrel show. The IS and IR will all compliment each other as I understand it.
