Dumb question about radio mics!

I've never used a radio mic before, but will need to borrow or hire one for the speeches at a wedding in a couple of weeks.

Does the receiver plug into the usual mic socket on my mixer? or does it have to be plugged into a line input?

They have a normal jack that plugs in to your usual mic socket.

Also depends on the make==mine has options of balanced which uses an XLR lead or unbalanced which uses a quarter inch jack plug.

Balanced is reckoned to be better but with mine doesnt seem to make much difference.

Check you have a suitable input socket on your equipment and try it out thoroughly before the gig.

All my mics have balanced and unbalanced as well as a mic/line switch.

I find the balanced to be a much better sound.

Dont go spending silly money on a radio mic, the laws and frequencies are changing !
