Digital Dj license

Could anyone tell me what is going on with the DDL (so i can usemy laptop). I know somehing was being changed or something with it. What is the current price of it.

It is currently an unenforceable waste of time, thats whats happening from what ive seen, can't see anyone turning up at your party and saying turn that off mate, they would be pretty stupid too, I doubt if they will ever get this together and if they do who the hell is going to stick to it now?

True! I was one of the early adopters, but have let it expire.
I'd suggest you printout and read the T&C's then get on with using your laptop and stick to the T&C's, then at least your making an effort and going about it the right way.
That's what I'm doing now, I'm carrying on as if my licence were valid.
Just waiting for the plonkers-that-be to sort it out properly:confused:

Quite right too. We should all pay our copyright dues but I do not see why computer dj's should have to pay more than cd or vinyl dj's. It is inequitable or to put it in newspaper speak "a rip off".

Its just another way to try to squeeze more money out of the humble entertainer, I for one would never consider the thing, its a bit like PLI etc, I bet hardly anyone ever asks for it, but we are all supposed to have it ehh, this is one i do have, but im beginning to wonder why, two years ive had it and not been even asked for it once, when i mention it to clients they dont seem to know what im talking about.

Dead right. Only a fool operates without PLI. If you injure someone or damage property at a gig and you havent got cover then you could be paying someone for the rest of your life, lose your house/vehicle/eqipment/business. It just isnt worth the risk.

My £5 million cover works out at just over £3 a week.....a VERY small price to pay for the peace of mind in knowing that if something disasterous happens, I can't be sued for hundreds of thousands or even millions of pounds.....which I obviously don't have!
