Hi everyone

Just wondering what you charge for and out door event its like a fun day in a glasgow park. The council provie a stage and its only sound equipment needed. Start 10.00am - 5.00pm just wondering how much you would take i said normal rate for private function £120.00.

When you say "only sound equpiment needed" do you mean you are providing PA for them to use? Or will you have to DJ as well?

If the former, then £120 isn't bad really.. as its easy work. If you have to DJ as well though, then i'd be tempted to go for more.

dont price yourself to high because if you do they might shop around and try and get someone cheaper i would say £170 is fine because its during the day and u might get another job in the evening

Apart from anything else do you have a big enough PA to handle the event or will you need to hire in kit.

£120 is rather low regardless of this.

Dead right. Out door gigs need loads of power as there is no reflected sound.

Double or quadruple power for an outdoor event at least. I did an outdoor stage in a park once as audio only and had to use a 6k system with 12 bins, 10 tops I hired from a local DJ shop. I charged £1000 just for audio and 5 hours.
Park size wasnt that big either and I wished I had taken more but no one complained.

Round here people will not pay £200+ for a disco. It am entertaining the public pml :) its Sat 10.00am - 5.00pm only need lap top cd player speakers etc. I have not taking it yet as he said he had a 2.00pm deadline to book someone and had called me at 1.55pm lol so i e-mailed my PLI and the forms for him to fill in btu the e-mail address is invalied and number with held tryed yello pages and google to find a web site for them but nothing so hoping he will call back. He is looking for around a 3k sound system which is fine but might bump the price up as it take me 1 hour to get into glasgow city centre so .........

He sounds a bit suspicious if you ask me.
You have an hour travelling time, each way and 7 hours work. Plus the hassle of working outside. Do you have to provide your own shelter and power.

Also if you finish at 5, take 45mins to pack down and an hour to get home are you going to have time to get to an evening disco. If not, what would you normally charge for that. You dont want to end up earning less than normal.

Hope that made sense.

plus you have to take into account security arrangements, i normally would add 20% onto a final price as you have been booked my council and not a private entity, so guests are not so careful buddy

Thanks for the comments guys I'm still waiting a call back reading your comments and i just priced of some website's for lighting & pa for concerts etc and have made a final price of = £ 600.00 :) what do you think of that ? ok or bit much ?

I am out on the night so i will have to go from Glasgow right back to Bathgate which dont give me much time but i will get someone to set-up during the day at my event in the evening. I am hoping there will be a contract out of this with the council do take on there events all the time so you never know. Thats me off to run up and "Outdoor Event Price List" Lol :)

That sounds a bit more realistic plus I assume that as a 16 year old you have to pay a driver and you will also have to pay someone to set up for your evening gig. I therefore assume that you have enough kit to do both jobs.

How are you getting power to run your rig?

Whether it's a generator or supply from a building, make sure you have RCD protection.
