Had a club residency at a posh golf/country club place in Cheshire for a while (a few years back in the late 80s! :p ) and there were lots of guest DJs & artistes that I had to play alongside.

"Ooh" Garry Davies was my fave... such a nice chap. Also DLT and a few of the local bands of the time, remember Teardrop Explodes, Echo & The Bunnymen, A Flock of Seagulls and my faves the Psychedelic Furs.

Oh and Ken Barlow out of corrie

At the Student Union I DJ at the only famous people to just turn up have been Glynn From Big Brother (he came to watch Infernal who were doing a PA that night), and occasionally some of Snow Patrol who are friends with a band that play our venue regularly.

At the Strip club, the Hearts and Hibs Teams pop in every now and again and once Bradley from S Club 7 came in with a former member of New Kids on the Block (dunno which one). There's some tabloid material for you.

Acts i've worked with, mainly at the student union include - comedians such as Craig Charles, Paul Zenon, Ross Noble, Des Clarke, Keith Harris and Orville the Duck. Musical acts such as - Jo O'Meara, the 411, Infernal, N Trance, Dario G, Speedway, Snow Patrol, the Supernaturals, oh and the best of the lot, Daphne and Celeste!

Also handing the decks over to guest 'DJs' - Pat Sharpe and Jenny Frost from Atomik Kitten. Looks like anyone can be a DJ these days...

.....oh and the best of the lot, Daphne and Celeste!

I remember they were on at a holiday park we stayed at - they were touring about as part of some promotional thing for Pepsi I think (or some other large bandit corporation) giving stuff away and singing.

They got all the kids sitting at the front, all stickered up and with give-aways galore, my daughter totally loving it when my lad, who was about 10 at the time, came back to his seat with us.

When asked why he'd returned as we thought he liked them, he said "I think Daphne and Celeste are c rap!". Pretty much summed them up at the time and, when they sang "Ooh Stick You", he replaced 'stick' with a more suitable 'F' word! Thats my boy! :D

In the mid 1980's Jimmy Pursey (lead singer of Sham 69) was at one of my gigs.

About 9 years ago I was booked for a dinner dance which had a disco and a band. I was the disco, and the band happened to be Chas & Dave...so I got to introduce them & see their set...which was very entertaining.

One team at a pub quiz I run consists of the lead singer & bass player from the group Liquid Gold. If you're old enough, you'll remember their disco hit "Dance yourself dizzy" which made no 2 back in 1980.

Which celebrities have turned up at YOUR gigs?

I was with Iron maiden 2 nights ago here's a pic, i cause as they are friends and really nice guys !!On Wed 18 April I have to 'open up' the Church of Noise rock night in Cambridge as the organiser will be along the road at a gig... and nu-metal band Trivium will be popping in once they have finished the gig... allegedly...

...allegedly, since at the last one at the Junction, The Eagles of Death Metal (feat. Josh Homme from Queens of The Stone Age) were supposed to pop upstairs with their Ipods for a spot of DJing, but didn't.

So we drank all their beer for them... :beer1:

I've had a few actually...
I've done a few aftershow parties for Gary Numan and Nine Inch Nails and at those were guys from Jesus Jones, Depeche Mode, Marilyn Manson and Republica.
A few years back I did a wedding where Robert Plant attended.
I also did a little girls birthday whose dad was the man behind S Club 7 (Their songwriter)...one of the girls turned up, Hannah.
Did a really posh do in a country club yonks ago and Dr Hilary Jones was there with his wife (:Censored::Censored::Censored::Censored: definitely!).
Did an end of series party (well, I was actually helping that night) for Ginger TV who did TFI Friday. Lulu and Lily Savage were there as well as Chris Evans.

The best by far though was when I did a big wedding for a guy who was a record producer or something. I turned up to set up and there were huge trucks unloaded a PA System into the venue (outside Godalming in Surrey). There were huge screens up around the place connected to Playstations and there were seats from Formula 1 cars to sit in when playing them as it was Formula 1 on them. The couple had got married abroad and were having a huge party. My players went through the PA System.

The band were a covers band but I was told that I wasn't allowed to play any Robbie Williams as there was going to be a special guest. Even 5 minutes before the special guest turned up, I didn't work out who it was...D'OH!!! Yes, it was Robbie Williams!! It was around the time that he did the track 'Kids' with Kylie and there were rumours that she would turn up but she didn't. He went down (as expected) a storm but didn't hang around for long afterwards. It was a great night and everyone in there (about 400) had a great time...it's possibly one of my best nights ever.
