I really don't need another pair of speakers but this offer is just too good to pass over, already got 3 pairs of 15" but these will be good for smaller venues.

According to the mackie website i just came from these speakers are good for over 200 people audiences. Although from the look of them I would say that is optimistic for a pair of them. I recon 200 people max for speakers this size but others may disagree.

Spin, cant see you covering 200 people with reasonable bass without subs-- for which you will need a Trailer or Roof Rack :eek:

I must get to listen to these speakers at a live gig some time--

LOL K nah I find putting the peaveys up high above people gives good sound even in big rooms. Was looking for a pair of these to make life easier but looks like it aint going to happen now.

i disagree - i think people get carried away sometimes with what they "need" to have- in the past I've used JBL Eons and RCF Arts both without subs and never had a problem- I still think its the dancefloor you need to cover, not the whole venue.
Can't see why these mackies, which no-one had now anyway, would be too quiet.

Im not saying you cant cover 200 people--I just like to have a punchy bass sound ( even for Country Discos and Barn Dances) which im not sure you are going to get with a pair of 12 inch speakers going into 200 people without subs ---even if they are Mackies?

I play with tops at very small venues but once I get to Marquees, Barns and large halls wouldnt personally leave home without the subs.

i ran my mackies in a 400 cap. pub at the weekend and they coped fine, great sound and much punchier than jbl eons or wharfedale evp-x that i had before.
still pinching myself, cant beleive i got em so cheap

The 300s are the old ones.

I did extensive research into this when I bought mine, only to find out that they missed the z off. :mad:

I like the mackie stuff its really good stuff. The c300z's are a right bargain at the price they are been sold for. In that price range you will not find a better speaker.

however im looking into some mackies myself for backup use. But im interested in the SRM450s. I have heard them a few times and i like the sound quality of them. Im sure the C300s will be the same. But ive gone off the idea of carrying power amps around. id prefer the active ones.

just ordered a couple of pairs but am being cautious after the turnkey saga.

Yep mine arrived today yay, weigh more than they said though 20.6 kilos according to my scales rather than the advertised 18kilos. Mind you very sturdy design, turned em up in the house and sounded good. Won't get real test until next week though when I have a party worth taking them to.
Also turned out they are the c300z's when they tuned up they had it printed all over the box. Also a sticker on the front says that the are suitable for audiences between 100 - 250 people.
We will see, any srm 450 users out there let me know what you would consider maximum audience size is with no subs just a pair?

Actually, I looked into this and found out the C300 are the older version which actually have a higher SPL rating (slightly) than the newer 300z.

I actually spent a good 2 hours checking into the difference between the 300 and 300z before I bought them, only to find that the shop had missed the 'z' off the website....typical

I fell fowl of the outdated page on the turnkey website, and was gutted when they said they had none in stock the other week.

I followed your link to West End DJ, ordered them Sunday and they arrived yesterday.

Tried them out with a decent mixer - Numark PPD01 (after trying out with a crappy backup mixer - not good) and some good Dance CD's, the sound was brilliant. I would say a lot better than my Bose I use at home (301's mk iv).

I do agree with some of the other comments, if you like stomach churning bass then you need some subs etc, but a lot of venues/customers don't like the bass too loud anyway.
