I took a video using my cannon last week. Created a .MOV file.

Unfortunately I took it with camera on it's side, so when I play back on PC, it's on it's side. Anyone know a good and free way of flipping it by 90 degrees?

Trouble is, even if you manage to rotate it 90 degrees (and there are probably packages which will do this), the aspect ratio will be all wrong. The old "square" ratio is actually 4:3, and widescreen is normally 16:9. So even after you rotate it,you'll have to zoom in and crop some of the frame to make it fit a "standard" screen size.

Which I am happy to do, but need some sofware - anyone?

15 day trial is available :)

EDIT:

Also see http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/PapaJohn/71/Rotating_Cropping_Video.aspx, using Windows Movie Maker and VirtualDub (which is free).

Did EXACTLY the same thing on my Canon digital camera, in the movie mode, when I was on holiday last year!! Didn't realise you couldn't rotate it like the photos (even though I've had it about 3 or so years!):bang:

Would try to change them but lost them when the PC hard drive had to be replaced!

I feel your annoyance/pain!!

Thanks for the links Marc J - I'll add them to my favourites just incase I do the same in future when drunkunly recording my mates!
