Hi i just thought that i would tell you all about my gig last night.it was a wedding reception with the bride being Polish and the groom a scotsman.Anyway after getting the first dance underway (amazed by lonestar) it all went a bit quiet you know not much dancing.I was then handed a cd buy one of the polish guys and told to play some tracks.well the place was buzzing very shortly with the polish tunes.
It is polish tradition for the groom to remove the brides garter, then the bride sits down all the single females gather round in a circle dancing to the music when the music stops the bride tosses her garter over her shoulder for one lucky female to catch.
It is then the grooms turn to throw his tie in the same way.the guy who catches the tie then has to place the garter on the female who caught it.when that is done i played a slow ballad tune for that couple to dance to.
ive never seen this before has anyone else?

Never seen the tie throwing, but the garter throwing is an old tradition (removed by the groom and thrown by either the bride or groom). Seems to be dying out though.
