Can you help?

Have any of you out there held a launch night. I've decided to go with this and was wondering if this is a good idea - I think it is!!
You get to invite all you friends and family (2 if i'm lucky!!:p ) to see and feel what you can do.
I've hired a hall (more expense) and it's in a quite good location - we have a really friendly street and i know most people on it - mostly around my age - so we have a lot in common. Most have agreed to come.

What I really want is a good night and to keep the guests happy, I've gone for inviting children as well as ther parents - bit concerned that the kids might come without their parents (dtr's 13 yr old mates!!) & run riot - but the MD (wife) has told me not to worry as they are the one's who will fill the dance floor.
I am also doing a quiz (to be kept short) with prizes, (more money) buffet, balloons, business cards and flyers.

Good idea or Bad?? Feedback desperately needed!

Thanks. :)

A launch night, for your mobile disco? An interesting idea, I don't see why not! Although it does strike me that you really want as many people there that you don't know

not a bad idea- why not maybe try and tie it in to a social of some kind for a club/society that may offer work in the future- local sports team/school etc- that way you fill the club up (=more people on dance floor) and also reach a wider audience that you don't already know and would not already book you.

I have probebly not expained to well - I have invited friends and family but also have left the invatation open to extend there friends too and so on.
I want as many preople as possible to attend.

We have also invited local shop keepers, fire brigade, ambulance (I've heard these guys really know how to party!!), going to run a flyer up at the hospital tonight, teachers and local people in and around the area to try and get as much publicity as possible.

I've got to the point where i'm thinking of hiring a doorman for the night in case we attract the wrong crowd - don't know if this is a good idea or not?

So again open to ideas please.
