Must be Monday--received two email enquiries---replied immediately--- both had duff email addresses.

One was shown as .co.uk instead of .com---easily changed but the other one is not recognised and bounced.

Makes you wonder about people who dont even know their own e mail address:eek:

Anyone else get this problem regularly.

I guess if you force them to send you an e mail rather than have an enquiry form being sent automatically they cant get that wrong:bang: :bang: :bang:

I do like the idea of a quote request form and im sure its increased our enquiries, this is the only drawback.

Think I might issue a warning on the contact page --

Please make sure your email address is correct otherwise you wont receive your quote

My webform requires both an email and telephone number. If the email address doesn't work, I can give them a call.

A good contact form (note to Shaun: not the one I used on your site lol!) will actually do a check on the domain to see if it's valid (registered) domain. This might have caught the one that entered .co.uk instead of .com, unless the .co.uk version of the domain was also registered!

This still wouldn't allow for people getting the bit before the @ wrong, e.g. [email protected].

Incidentally, I used a btinternet.com example because you wouldn't believe the amount of people using it who get it wrong and use btinternet.co.uk instead!

SPOT ON! Thats the one I received this morning. DOH! :D

The other said ==

65.54.244.200 does not like recipient.

Giving up on 65.54.244.200.

Yeah I give up as well!

Re phone number --I tend to keep the form Internet friendly without a number in the first place so people dont think im going to phone up and do a "sales call" on them.

Those that like talking on the phone just phone anyway.

I get a bit annoyed though--a week ago a School emailed me for a quote with a duff email address.

I was able to trace back the School and the person concerned and left a pleasant message asking them to ring me or send over a valid e mail address.

Needlessto say---nothing heard again!!!

Some people really are rude.

So what are you saying?, I got a bad contact form? :D

Have to say, to date I've never had any problems with innacurate email details being provided. I guess I've been lucky (so far).

My form insists on a name, phone number, email address. Mobile number is optional. Everything else is optional but pre-filled with sensible defaults. However, I do have a pull-down list that asks for contact preference. It defaults to 'email' but they can also choose 'phone - daytime' or 'phone - evening'. I find this offers the right comfort level for the user.
