View Full Version : Best back up playout system???

Looking for a small back up system to PCDJ whch would be quite compact and yet capable of mixing and playing out MP3's or Wav's.
Any ideas?

Cortex hdc-1000 or numark d2, only 2U in size and weighs 3 kilos. I have one of each. Can play both wava and mp3's and the numark can play AAC as well.

Umm... in that case, I would suggest that PCDJ become the backup system! ;)

Why? PCDJ starts without delay when you hit play! I know which i'd use as backup...

numark and cortex are instant start just like a cd. when you press play it starts , no lag or waiting.

The Cortex i used wasn't.. could have been the dodgy mp3s it was loaded with though... even still, the DMC and DAC controllers feel much nicer to use than the Cortex.. in my opinion of course.

The buttons are much softer so they can be tapped.. with the cortex, you have to make more of an effort to actually "push" the buttons.

Cheap s/h laptop and OTS Turntables. I run it on an old P3 800MHz 256MB RAM and it works beautifully.

Excuuuuuuuuse me!:D I happen to use a laptop, but with hardware control.
Makes no difference to control wether you use a desktop or a laptop, the options are the same!
