Anyone got a call today asking for quotes for a kids party in September, and then a adult disco in October.

I suspect its another DJ ringing around to get prices.. as they were quite vague and didn't offer any other details.

What do you usually do when you get calls like this?

Full interogation - loads of open questions, to make them talk, and then take them through a full booking form, no-one gets just a quote - I don't do quotes without having the full information.

Same as me - I always ask for date and venue and start talking about details for their party at which point they normally tell me they are a local DJ...:rolleyes:

Maybe the next person to get a call can invite them to the forum...

Part of my reason for posting was to warn others, and see if anyone else had got the same call... i guess they'll be working through the MDD or UK-Disco listings...

23:33 last night I got my call!! :eek:
I was drunk though, so didn't ask him alot of questions! Asked for dates & duration, and he was unsure!
Asked for his address so I could post him some brochures along with prices and he hung up... :mad:

At the minute yes, I can't justify additional costs for an extra line at this stage.

I do see the many advantages of a separate line and will do this but being relatively new, I don't fit into even the Part time business slot yet. So far calls out of "business hours" are coming via the mobile, so that’s OK.

Its less than you may think if you go for a voip solution - I use http://www.voiptalk.org.uk and it costs £3.50 a month to use the incoming line with any regional number. You do you have to by a voip phone for about £50 though, which plugs direct into your router or home network. I use my free minutes on my mobile to make my outgoing calls, although its very cheap to use the voip line if you wish to.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that Dan. Haven't followed VOIP technology, so will be interesting to see how that works.

A potential customer none the less, if it had resulted in a £200 booking I'd have forgiven him for the time of the call LoL
Agreed, its a stupid time to expect someone to give a full quote, and did ask him if he knew what time it was! Plus he called my mobile, so I was not to know if it was a customer or a mate.

Apart from anything else what a ridiculous time to phone a mobile DJ, at a time that many are out working (admittedly it would've been more ridiculous if they'd phoned on a Friday or Saturday, but still....)

It's idiotic & they would've been told to phone back regardless.

Have to agree Steve I've had 2 calls after 11pm in recent weeks neither appreciated too much.
