Laptop PCMCIA Sound card

Thinking of using a Laptop as well as a normal setup (to see how it goes).

I know a lot of people have started using computers instead of a full setup, and as I DJ alone, I thought this would eventually cut down on the amount of stuff I had to carry.

I was thinking of the Echo Indigo DJ - Pro PCMCIA or soundblaster audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA card.

Anybody used these or have any views on whether these would be OK or would I need to use an external USB soundcard (I only have one USB on the Laptop I have at present and It only seems to be USB1)

Better with a complete external card like the live 24 as it has own power supply so no hum from laptop. Also cheaper than the ZS.

That has nothing to do with getting hum.

That comes from mains supplies all fighting with each other and therefore some laptops suffer with ground loop issues which can be sorted with a simple ground loop isolator.

The Echo is an excellent card and does the job very well.

I have that and a USB Maya EX and find the Maaya to be slightly louder, but the Echo produces a better sound.

The only problem you may have initially is configuring the card, but once done you can save the settings and load each time you use it.
