Track name editing - Help!!

Hello. I have as alot of us on here have just got a Denon HD2500 and have rigged my hard drive up to find that searching tracks seems to be quite hard with the way they are on my drive.

Let me give you an example.

Denon will see:

Dancing queen

But not:

01. Danicing queen

Obviously this is a major problem as I have near on 30,000 tracks to go through and edit not only the title, but the artist, albumb, year etc etc. Please note some only apply in some cases.

The question I really need the answer to is:

Is there any way to change the details of the track quickly and easily without click, wait....... click and write as if you double click to quick it plays the MP3?

I'm not sure why you want to see the 01 bit Steve?

There is software to re-tag files in batches - is that what you need?

All my tracks are being seen by the number first, so I have a '01' for every CD I have and when searching for a song title, it doesnt work.

Try using a program called fixtunes, it is a bulk mp3 naming program.

Before you start ripping, remember to uncheck the unicode option in the settings. I had a problem with Denon Music Manager not reading the tags correctly (something to do with UNICODE being used instead of ASCII, in the tags??). Go into options > Tags > and uncheck the "write unicode data into id3v2 tags" option. That'll save you some headaches down the line.

I thought that the HDD-based players searched on tag info not file names, why would you have the 01 in the name when there is a track number field? Or am I misinformed.

On the Denon you can search via the tag info or filename

Um, are you just seeing 30000 tracks all in a big long list?

If so, you're only using the Denon DN-D2500 to a fraction of its potential.

Use the "create database" function on the drive which contains your 30000 files. This only needs to be done once, takes about 3 to 10 minutes (varies on track type and file sizes etc), and creates a fully searchable database for almost instantaneous results. eg: search artists for abba, and instantly ALL the abba songs will appear, for instant selection.

I have to say, I am probably not using it correctly but to be honest all the songs I have collected over the years have not been tagged correctly so I think its about time I do it anyway. I backed up most of my old 12"'s and they only have the file name. I need to make proper tags for them.
