You notice they sell it with the line "No DMX required!"

Great, so how do I control it, seems like a waste of money considering you can buy a Par 56 LED par for just double that, which includes everything including the actual light and a DMX control board!

I think the point is to make your own effect not just copy an existing one. The circuit could be use to control christmas lights for example to make a new pattern (maybe a light string of 30 blue another of red etc.
Mind you I just stripped a controller from a christmas set to do the oposite lol

Hi there

I have got one of these and they are not bad. But to be honest built in sequences are naff, there is a few nice colour fades and the rest are a bit wild. I ended up having to reprogram them, so unless you want to buy a pic programmer and learn how to write pic ?.

But there could be a better way, if you are wanting to build you own stuff then trying to create you own control board can be very expensive.

Milford Instruments www.milinst.com (http://www.milinst.com/) sell stand alone DMX PCBs that you can do what you like with, the one you would be looking for is DMX- PWM and Stepper Driver Board, but it’s £50 + PnP

If I were you wanting to make up you own thing I would buy something like a colour burst LED from Pro Light and ripe the gutts out.
