Advice on scanners

I am looking to incorperate some scanners into my show, years ago in about 1993 i had the first set of Martin scanners in the area they where the roboscans i believe, however they ate bulbs and i sold them in the late 90s and went back to flower lighting as the bulbs lasted longer, and no one seemed to notice either, now there seems to be a lot of choice of new low cost scanners out there such as the Acme stuff and i am wondering what you guys use and have experience with that will make just that bit extra on the shows, looking for 4 heads really, mixed in with the flowers and gobo projectors i already have, any ideas?

Well, the most popular choice for mobile discos does seem to be the Acme Dynamos. After a few forum members here recommended them so much, I decided to purchase a pair - and they are truly awesome for the money.

The only thing I can criticise them for, as someone else mentioned, is that they are perhaps a little too fast and energetic.

depends what you got to spend and how mutch space you got i would go for the irock5s hids or the 5b hid from prolight very bright lamps look at www.djanddiscostuff.com 429 a pair

Arhhhhhhhh not that much lol, i guess it will be the Acme Dynamos, but im a little disapointed they obly have 10 gobos, just had a run in with some wally on ebay who set his maximum bid at higher then the new price of an item, so looks like i will have to wait a while yet anyway, an idiot a minute on there.

The Acme Dynamos look just like the scanners I am looking for but what holds me back is that I haven't really used DMX lighting before. I have a couple of scanner type lights that are IEC and they all go through the 8 way IEC box.
Can anyone give me some more information on these please such as how easy it is to use them (program them etc) and also, are the leads different? I take it that these all link togeather etc?
If the answers come through and I like what I hear, I'll get them tomorrow.

no need to programme just master slave them via dmx leads or you can get a small controller dead easy 2 use
