Callum please? you really need to listen to one of those tube (valve) amps have you ever noticed that most reggae sound systems still use valve amps? not many transistor amps can generate bass that deep or powerful and if built properly no worry about impedance how about 10 x 18" bass drivers on one amp? I've seen it done many times and the sound is unreal only thing is they take time to warm up and there the size of a house!!!!!

Yeah most of the best systems still use tubes. I know a few live bands that still use valve systems. They always tell me that they sound much better than modern systems.

I use one of those valve amps for my hi-fi system at home. You'd have to spend a huge amount of money to get anything that sounds better. I imported one into the UK for about £200, my friend who has £5000 worth of Naim (high end British hi-fi manufacturer) amplification thought my little beauty sounded better than his in some respects....... For mid range / vocal reproduction, nothing beats a decent valve set up. If you want the ultimate in current delivery and power output then go solid state but valves are difficult to beat otherwise.....
