View Full Version : I brought the Acme's

Went into Southampton today to a shop called 'Just add music' who were on the internet as saying that they would match the best price out there for the 4 head set of Acme Dynamos. I had a demo of them and got them straight away. I got the 4 units plus all the leads etc and bulbs plus some added G-clamps and I even blagged some 4 extra bulbs for £334.99.

Got home and tested them with the CA 8 controller (will need a good memory) and was well impressed even in my small, light living room in the middle of the day. I can imagine these looking smart in a big venue. I think I may just use a couple of Abyss with them to add some constant light or maybe a Twister and an Abyss, not sure yet. Can't wait to get out and use them properly.

I have to agree, considering that the bulbs are only 12/100's, they are bright and the colours are very nice too. I like them a lot and they are my first real scanner package. Thanks for the reviews, I got them to be honest on the strength of what was said about them on here.

I had a pair of the Dynatwins, but as I don't DMX, found them to be a little too fast for my taste.

They are a great priced unit though and nice and bright as you say.

I'd suggest getting a case for them too. You can buy one that houses all 4 units.

They're pretty useless with DMX (I tried to get a good programme out of the pair you speak of ;))

Failed miserably. However, I would consider them as part of a larger lighting package, as you can bring them up, take them out, move the mirror, bring them up and so on, as the movement (as I've said many a time) is useless unless you want jerky....:rolleyes:

Good for the price, but I think the reason they move so fast is the stepper motors are pants.

I too have this package and think there great for the price. I purchased the case and stairville DMX lighting controller unit and would recommend them highly.

They actually fit perfectly in a case that I already had. Cheers for the comments.

I used to use abstract futurescans and prefer the dynamos personally .
