Copy of email that i recieved today, I wonder if the other 5 million DJ's in existence recieved it?


As you may or may not be aware we have been inviting DJ's across the UK to join the Nationwide DJ Search. We are pleased to announce that the new site URL REMOVED is ready to launch.



This site is not aimed at being a massive database of disco companies but a selection of only 15 professional shows per region. Rather than being number 200 in an Alphabetical database – you will always be on the One page. The Fifteen shows will rotate monthly to allow everyone to at some point be the number 1 show.



We are operating the regions on a first come basis and once the 15 allocations have been made; no other companies will be listed in that region for 12 months.

In addition to customers viewing your advert, we will also pass on booking enquiries that come direct to the peoples choice disco website.



This year is looking extremely busy with our personal bookings nearly full for the year URL REMOVED. Therefore we cannot honour many of the enquiries that come to the site. Previously we would send a polite “sorry we are booked” email to the client. From now on we will forward the potential bookings to all 15 shows advertising in the region.



Further to the above, we will also be happy to pass on work from our regular, repeat customers for bookings that we cannot honour.



Naturally there is a nominal charge to join the site and this charge simply covers the cost to design your advert, the administration time for passing on booking enquiries and the remainder will help us invest in boosting the site within the search engines also to captivate the audience from all across the UK.



Of course we cannot gaurentee how many enquiries will be passed, however based upon the success of my personal website and the reputation our show has, we are very positive that there will be a number of opportunities.

I had a phone call the same as this. Sounds ______ to me there was music blasting in the background and everything. Guy saying you will be one of only 10 disco in your area it looks more pro if you with us etc etc. Asking do you have PAT , PIL how much etc i just put the phone down on him cant be botherd with time wasters.

In any case, £50 is too much for just one region, as i regularly cover about 6 different counties!

They should really be offering free listings until the site becomes nice and high on the search engines and then becomes worth paying for.

I've already been down this route before with this same individual. He stated that he wasn't sending out unsolicited emails, but just seeing if anyone is interested in joining his team. HELLO!!!..I didn't ask for, request or contact him for any information, so the emails coming to me are UNSOLICITED.

Spam, nothing more nothing less.

To all, having read the comments below, I am sad to hear that all you guys are not happy about the email I asked my web desginer to send out.

Can I put a few things straight here...Firstly yes I am a member of this site and I am very very happy (and impressed) with the quality and amount of leads I get from the site. I do not often get the time to post comments on the site, in hindsight perhaps it would have been a good idea to ask your opinions on what I was trying to create.

Firstly may I point out that the whole reason for creating this Nationwide DJ site was to be able to give me the chance to get to know Shows from all over the regions with a view to be able to have a select number of Discos that I can pass on work to.

I get allot of booking enquiries and thought that this project would be a good way to pass on work. Simple as that.


As you may see that I limited the number of shows to 15 per region as I am not intending on creating a massive database or trying to create some sort of money making scam. The reason I set charges to go on the site was to be prefectly honest - I do not have the spare budget to pay myself for a new site, paying the desginer to upload details of every show and to at least allocate some funds to help a small site like mine hit somewhere in the search engine ratings. (What would be the point of the site and people paying to join if they do not see it in the search engines). If you feel that £50 is expensive - well the breakdown is £10 to the company who designs and maintaines the site, a few pounds a month towards Adwords costs (£36) and what ever small amount is left would have been simply to cover my time for emailing leads throughout the year etc.

It's a shame to see negative comments on this site when all i was trying to do was create a mini database and to boost work for anyone that wanted to be part of it.

Why are you all so quick to just slam this project back in my face when It will have no reflection against this site?

I appreciate the comments Danno about the free listings, I guess If I was I.T minded and did not have to pay a designer to do all this, then I could have done that.

Anyway I am very sorry that all you feel that my little project is spam, trash and basically a load of EXPLETIVE REMOVED (swearing that is replaced by **'s are not permited, as per the forum rules). I thought It was a nice idea and you can't blame someone for trying an idea out.

In realtion to the comments about unsolicited emails, Please come on!!!! It's not like I am sending you a million emails a day about Viagra or EXPLETIVE REMOVED (swearing that is replaced by **'s are not permited, as per the forum rules) enlargement is it!! 1 polite email a few weeks ago to test the water and see if people were interested in such a site, I had a number of nice and supportive responses, so I paid for the design and launched the site. At work here I get over 200 spam mails a day and yes they are a bloody pain in the rear end but I hardly think an email about the line of work we all do and a simple invite to join is such a bad email??? Shame that you guys here think its.

But do not worry you will not get anymore emails form me, sorry to offend !

Lewnics - Re the verification agancy. I take it you have had one of those phone calls! The bloke would not get off the phone to me - trying to offer badges for my staff etc - what's that all about? Has anyone actually joined them? Would love to know what they are about.

Another one I had a terrible experience with was U-Find Us.com - ripped off for £300! Should have done my homework!!!

As i strted this thread I feel perhaps i should reply in order to let you know why i started it. There was a company called the Verification Agencey (hence the title of the post) who also sent out emails to members on here which were very similar, they then followed it up with phonecall after phonecall, perhaps in your research you could have searched this forum (third option from the right on top banner just under the PM section) and found out what sort of feedback you may have recieved. At the end of the day we all recieve spamm however we are very careful about where we place our emails addresses from, i can only assume as a large majority of the emails were sent to companies on this forum, therfore you have taken information from this forum not to book a disco (which is what its there for) but to try and Sell us a service which if we wanted we could join numerous amounts of pay to display sites.

Thanks for the reply. As mentioned, I did get the calls form the verification agancey, they were convincing at the start but after the slaes guy called me "mate" for the 15th time, I realised that it was just a ploy to make money out of us and In the end I hung up, but they called back time after time. I can understand why people would think when they saw my email "here we go again" but that's not what I was trying to do. At the end of the day, I am simply a DJ passionate about my show about mu business and the whole industry and was just trying to widen the horizons and get a few shows to join in my project.

Rest assurred although, a few weeks ago I did email a few names form this site, but as soon as I got the email from Shaun requesting not to do this, I stopped straight away and also made sure that the designer did not use this site when emailing compaines.

I hope people can now see where I am coming from. Can we put this to bed now! (I so should be doing my day job!!!)

Fair enough, but then why take emails from an established site? We have worked very hard getting this site up and running and you think it's OK to come along and use our work for your own projects?

Darren this could go on forever but

1 - I have not used the emails from this site. I had already had communication form Shaun on this in the past, and I did not use them thereafter. I have also called the designer who was sending the emails to double check and confirmed that he was only sending emails to addresses form Mobile Disco Shows Own websites.

2- No-one wanted the email, well the only reason I pursued this little venture was because I had positive support from the original mail I sent - so I thought people were keen.

3- Ring people and meeting them? Great Idea, but to travel to Scotland to meet a show is hard work. But I agree the phone is better than an email. Perhaps even the mobile DJ conventions would be a good way

4- I know you keep mentioning about taking names form your site. I respect the hard work you must have all put into this site and I am not the sort of person to just come along and steal addresses from your site. As I mentioned, this is the best site on the net for DJs like myself, why would I want to abuse it? I know that you may all still think "yeah right - he got the addresses from here" but believe it or not every address we mailed was followng a study of their own individual websites as we wanted to see what sort of disco people had before emailing them etc.

5- Totally agree about members not wanting to be hassled with emails, again I can only repeat that I did not use your database. I know you are all protecting your website and I totally respect that - and I have honoured what I said I would when I first spoke with shaun. I did not think other shows in the same industry would find my emails offensive.

Never mind guess I thought it was a good idea, (one of those kind of ideas you think up when lying in the sun on a winter holiday earlier in the year!) but not in some peoples eyes.
