Multiple Active Mackies

We are about to do an open air gig and rather than pull in the big guns we thought we would daisy chain our active Mackies.

We have eight for 450’s and eight 1501’s and we have only ever linked two sets at one time so my old man rang our supplier and asked what is the maximum you can daisy chain without loss of signal.

We are still waiting for a reply, now before you ask why so much output, its not about that, it’s about placing sound over a large area without pumping the volume. The signal must degrade over four sets or can you create a ring where you go back to the start to balance it out?

We could split and run out individually but that would mean loads of cables!

I'm sure Behringer make some kind of distribution box, that takes one input from the mixer and splits it into four outputs with no loss. This would be perfect for you, but i can't find the thing anywhere!

Yes a sound managment system would probably do you. Didnt someone talk about one of those on here recently. Should halp split signal without signifcant signal loss. Mind you you do say large area are we talking metres of cables here? or just large projected area?

to be honest i do a gig at my local pontins uses active mackie system 2 x fusion 1800 subs 2 x fussion 3000 mid hi speakers and 8 pairs of srm 450;) and they are all daisy chained and sound superb. the mackies will have a built in booster to keep the signal from dieing

The Mx882 splitter-conditioner sounds interesting but after Gillo's comments I think we will run them all up today and use the splitter as an option. At £80.00 odd quid will hardly break the bank.
