Just wondering if anyone knows, how I would go about creating a sphere of beams like in this picture....

Point your camera at a moonflower.. or find a stock image of just the beams.

What would you like to do with it? Just bought a new logo software and need some more practice. If you want to send me you picture I'll have a go [email protected]

But there has to be some way to do it myself/some easy way using photoshop.

Thanks, but I really need a way to do it myself, so I can play around with it. I'm thinking about building a template for a club night web site, I expect I'll change what goes in front of it a few hundred times before I'm happy :)

I wouldn't use photoshop for that....better to use a vector drawing app (CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator etc...), you can always import a high res version into Photshop when you're done, to finalise things....

Will,

Here's a pretty basic one I just put together in Corel. You should be able to alter the colour within photoshop using the 'hue' settings.

That's really nice Shaun. Thanks. - But how did you do it!? Like how did you get the beams an equal distance apart etc?

Marc J

That sucks Shaun! Nothing like what was asked for!

Here Will :)

PSD File is : Here (http://www.loweringprices.com/images/beams.zip)

Play around with the layer effects (2 simple radial gradient overlays) of the "Background" and "Beams" layers until you're happy :)

EDIT: How it was done: -

1. Create a triangle with a 10° angle in Corel. Fill it with black. Make 17 copies 20° apart hinged at the sharp end. Export as a high res tiff.

2. Import into Photoshop. Select the black to get the "beams" shape. Make a new all black layer. Feather your selection a little (2 pixels) and copy using your new "feathered" selection from the all black layer. Paste into a new layer and call it "beams".

3. Delete all layers except "beams". Creat a new layer called "Background" and fill it with black.

4. Apply layer effects, season to taste :)

Actually, I'd value one used sheep at more than 10p....read into that what you will :)

I've removed the dancing girl as that wasn't mine. Instead added some text variants: -

Light Only (http://www.loweringprices.com/images/moonflower2.html)
With Text (http://www.loweringprices.com/images/moonflower3.html)
With Text Mask (http://www.loweringprices.com/images/moonflower4.html)

Click Here (http://www.loweringprices.com/images/moonflower.zip) for the Flash (FLA) Files for each of these. Text is editable and colours are easy change in the colour sliders :)
