Sound limiter-how loud?

Ok guys, just got an enquiry at a venue with a 90db limiter.

Is that good news or bad news?

Allegedly Bands play there without too much of a problem:eek:

Yeah ok im not that stupid.

Is 90b at the lower end of the range or not?

I don't think that's that low.. there are venues with ones set at 75 and 80db!

Car / truck exhaust have to pass a drive-by test set at 84db. This is tested approx 3m away...where is this going you may ask..i'm not sure :confused:
90db at 3m away is quite noisy so this maybe ok.
I'm not sure if this gives you any idea....

90dB at the limiter won't equate to 90dB at the speakers or even at the dancefloor, that said, all you need is one muppet whooping it up and... oops.

Thanks Daz--doesnt sound too encouraging, PEOPLE SHOUTING AND CLAPPING ARE GOING TO BE THE PROBLEM.

I will issue the usual disclaimer if I get the job--hopefully not as I quoted a high price.

We won’t connect to a circuit that has a limiter, we are responsible DJ’s and play at a sensible level. We have played at most of the better end venues in the South West and we have only ever seen two and have negotiated ways around it.

We did a corporate thing for a football club last week and they asked us about volumes as they were in the position where they had been there forever and developers had built around them. They are now in the position where they need to conform because people, who purchased properties, knowing it was also a venue, want to rein them in and live the quiet life.

The planners want it all ways.
