Hi There

Just thought I would introduce myself before I start asking loads of newbie questions :)

My name is Sarah and I own a Wedding and Party Balloon decor business. (Balloon FX)

My son Phill is dead keen to become a DJ so I have decided to support him in this and get as much advice and info as I can to get him off to a good start.

He has been tagging along with a local DJ as a roadie and learning such a lot from him, so I thought now would be a good time to start up his cd collection and get his equipment bought so he can get some practice on a proper setup rather than his bedroom stack system and mike :)

I was a little worried that, beeing a tenager, he wouldn't be taken seriously but i have spoken to many dj's who have started on this road at an early age :D

We are aiming at an audience of mainly teens and maybe also kids parties. If all goes well I may even take the plunge myself and do weddings (will have to see how I sound on a mike first :o and be a roadie for my son to learn how to work the decks :confused: )

I would like to thank Callum of CB Entertainments for pointing me towards these forums. I hope my son does as well as he has :)

Hi Sarah and welcome to the site.

It sounds like you have your head screwed on and are doing things the right way for your son.

Roadying for another DJ is a great way to gain experience and to learn the job with a bit of hands on experience. I think kids parties and teenage parties are also the best jobs to do when you first start, so you build up your experience and confidence.

Lots of guys on here and other forums start young and there are members on here as young as 11 I believe.

Nice to see supporting your son's ambitions. Roadying for another DJ company is probably the best way to learn the trade and get hands on experience.

There are lots of interesting points that you make and, as Darren has already pointed out, the best way to get involved with DJing is to go out with another DJ. We can all learn from each other.

It's nice to know other kids are learning at this age. I bought him his whole system yesterday:) and the neighbours are loving it :eek: :)
