Hey all, just a thought...
All my kit is either in my room or in padded bags or flight cases in the garage, but when it gets to winter later in the year i would be worried about the kit in the garage.

How about you in do vans full of kit just stay outside, do you have kit in a garage and just not worry.

Also anotehr thought for anyone who uses a trailer.......do you have to avoid putting stuff like scanners in the trailer because of the risk of bumps breaking something

chears.

All my kit lives in the house. Supposed to be in the spare bedroom but often resides in the dining room 'cause I can't be bothered to carry it up the stairs.

All my gear lives in the attic apart from the speakers......not lumping them upstairs... :D

The majority is stored away off site in a secure store room in a well secure and alarmed building and, most importantly, my insurance people know it lives there.

In a cupboard upstairs, cos the cupboard under the stairs is full of all sorts of DIY and building materials  :(

(I really should go about swapping the 2 about, it would make it so much easier in the long run!) :)

Ooooh I seem to be the odd one out. The majority of my kit lives in the garage (although it's more like a normal building), although a couple of items live in the house like my decks and mixer (which normally I would have setup for practice purposes and plugged into my v. nice Celestion Ditton 44's ;)) - My DJ PC lives under my desk, and gets plugged into a KVM, so I can use the same monitor, keyboard and mouse as my normal machine.

Oh and CDs come in with me too.

All my gear lives in the bedroom, because there's not really room anywhere else in my 1 bedroomed flat! :(

I wouldn't want to keep it in the garage, as I'd be worried about it getting damp in the winter...especially the paper speaker cones.

Maybe that's why I've only had one cone blow in 24 years! :)

Mine lives inside too as I don't have a garage.

Looking into a local secure option but isnt 24hr access, so may have to stay in whichever part of the house has any space left!

In my local pub's garage, along side their freezers and garden furniture! http://planetsmilies.net/happy-smiley-808.gif

In the locked krooklocked van reversed right up to the rear wall of the locked, alarmed and CCTV'd dehumidified garage (van/garage have no side door).

Computers and media live indoors.

I have a storage unit (about the same size as a garage) for all my kit which has 24 hours access, CCTV and isn't too far from where i live.

The only things that doesn't tend to live in there and lives either in the house or in the van is my gig box, cd's and the PSR8's.

I managed to get a real good deal with my local "lok n store" and for £40 a month is pretty good going.

I used to store most of my kit in the garage, that has 4 locks on, hooked up to the house alarm and well guarded by a 9 and a half stone german sheppherd:cool:

Just ran out of space, so storage it was.

Most lok n store places are shut sundays mind you, which can sometimes cause a problem if you do most of your gigs on a saturday night........Thankfully the guvner lives opposite so will always open up for us.!

That's pretty good... My storage unit i'm paying £165 a month :( but as i say it's 24 hour, covered by CCTV and not to far away from home.... But i like it.... mainly as if anyone did break in my home expecting to find £20,000 worth of kit they'd have a bit of a shock :D as the best they'd find is a standard stuff in a home....

£165 a month?! That's a hefty fee, regardless of how good the facility is.

That is alot mate, mind you, it depends on the size.

I could easily get a car in mine, plus theres loads of headroom to about 12ft.

Also has 24hr CCTV, and very secure, plus insured with them as well..

Yeah that is true although it's paid for through the business and is less than 1 gig a month so it's workable.....

I'd rather pay really and know it's safe and pretty close to my house but far enough away too... It's around 150 square foot so not tiny (but needs to be bigger!) and i could prob just get my combo van in with room either side to spare and it's a fair height (i can't touch the ceiling)... So it's not bad really...

I'm sure i could do better BUT locally to me it is the best and most secure...
