If they're advertising it at that price, and it goes through the checkout, you should get it for that price!
Ie. Asda advertises 1L Smirnoff Vodka for 4.75 instead of 14.75 - they must legally sell it for 4.75 and honour their ad!

This isn't actually true, it's a common misconception.
If the price is a genuine mistake they are not legally bound to supply it at that price. This is backed up by their Terms of Sale (http://discostudio.co.uk/content-page-id-2.html): -
This web site serves as an invitation to tender: if you offer and we accept, the contract for the supply of goods and services will incorporate the following terms...
They may decide to supply at the published price for "good customer relations", but they are certainly not legally bound to do so, even if they hadn't included that part in their terms.

No, it is true, the price they show something at is what they must sell it for, trading standards will enforce that. If it's not an on-site ad, they can amend it, but this is the actual price shown on their site, and it goes through checkout.

I disagree. As long as it's not false advertising (i.e. to get threads such as this one started, to bring visitors to try to buy it only to be told that the price is higher, or to try and sell a different higher priced item - i.e. a "bait" price) but a genuine mistake then they don't have to honor it.
If they change the published price as soon a they are made aware of the mistake then that's fine. So I'd say with the amount of orders placed even from this thread then they will be aware now (or on Monday morning) - so if it's still at that price on say, Wednesday, you'd have a case. But not right now.
It of course depends on what stage the purchase process is at, i.e. if they have taken payment. Many online stores won't take payment unitil despatch (for this reason), the authorisation on your card is simply a "pre-auth" marker which reserves that amount on your card, but payment isn't taken (as when payment is taken they would be seen to have accepted your offer).
EDIT: See Here (Amazon case) (http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/0,1000000097,39226977,00.htm) and Here (Argos UK) (http://news.zdnet.co.uk/internet/0,1000000097,39216130,00.htm).

They don't have to sell them at that price at all.
They can back out if they want to.

They can back out until the point they take your money once payment has been taken it's a binding contract, before then they can claim a genuine mistake and just withdraw from sale, or just to have run out of stock.

I know in a shop if it is shown at the wrong price, the shop can either sell it at that price, or take all the items that are affected off the shop floor for 24 hours. Dunno how this affects the internet

It is covered under the Consumer Protection Act, revised 1987.There are many factors and regulations involved.
The Consumer Protection act does cover it as :-
an offence to give consumers a misleading price indication about goods, services, accommodation or facilities. The Code of Practice for Traders on Price Indications (the "Code") is approved under section 25 of the Act and gives practical guidance to traders on good practice in relation to price indications in a wide range of different circumstances. The Code is not mandatory, although it would be taken into account by a court in establishing whether an offence has been committed under the Act. The Act is enforced by Trading Standards Officers. There have been a handful of reported prosecutions under the Act.But referring back to my post #17 (http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=111606&postcount=17), that would apply if they knowingly publish an incorrect price, not if it's a genuine mistake (which is why I suggested buyers on Wednesday might have a case).
There's also the Prices Act 1974, the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and the E-Commerce Regulations 2002 to look into if you really wanted to! But I'd say that any references to incorrect prices referred to in any of these means an intentionally incorrect price (which can be proven), not a genuine mistake. That's why price lists usually have "E&OE" at the bottom (Errors and Omisisons Excepted), it doesn't have to be there (like DiscoStudio's terms don't have to contain the part I quoted) but it serves as a reminder and a backup for the retailer (see my link earlier re Argos).
They can back out until the point they take your money once payment has been taken it's a binding contract, before then they can claim a genuine mistake and just withdraw from sale, or just to have run out of stock.
Just remember that just because the checkout completes online doesn't mean payment has been taken, they may be using deferred payment as I explained earlier. Even if they aren't, the retailer could argue that the payment was taken by the payment processor as part of an automated process and might still be able to argue an "erroneous price".

I think the company have spotted their error.
The stand has gone up a bit...it's now advertised at £99.99!
Will they honour the cheaper price for those ordered by MDD forum members?
Let us know, guys (although I think I can guess the answer!).

I am afraid that we have had to cancel your order as we currently have no
stock of this item.
In additiona to this, the Purchase order code conflicted with a different
(much cheaper) product and this caused a price discrepency.
Your payment card HAS NOT been debited.
I hope this does not affect your decision to buy from us in the future
Blimey... all 246 stands must've sold between Saturday afternoon and this morning! And I ordered 2 different items, not just one.
Looks like a blanket email to me! (a bad one at that)

They would most likely escape through a technicality (such as the order code that they cited). Would it be worth going through all the hassle? Probably not.

Funny reading over this thread and don't blame you guys for trying your luck.
Had a similar situation in the past when I was younger and more naive where a disco website (can't remember the name now!) was just being put live but kept it live during the building process. They activated their shop and checkout process before adding prices to their site. So I ordered a few items at the grand total of nothing.
I got an email back telling me the site was not active yet and if i really wanted to buy I was to call. I emailled back citing trading standards and that I don't believe my order should be cancelled. Got a really nasty email back saying I was banned from the site, that I was a chancer and that he was not prepared to be done by a chancer and any future correspondence should be through lawyers.
I emailled back saying I wasn't chancing it, I genuinely ordered the products and that I was just showing the guy that he could get himself into a lot of expensive trouble leaving an unfinished shopping site live. No reply.
I did speak to trading standards, just out of interest on what the situation would be, and Mark's post above is totally right. When you try to buy you are just giving invitation to tend and the seller has to accept your offer. Yes it's buying and selling, but legally it's treated as an offer and has to be accepted.
Like in shops, they can refuse to sell to you if they want, or they can accept lower prices if your negotiation skills are good enough!
It's all a bit of fun.

.....and they didn't charge any cards so the contract is not binding in any way.
