Nearly 25 years ago I joined the Thames Valley DJs Association, which I believe turned into one of the above at some point.

I was only a member for about a year, as the only benefit I remember getting was public liability insurance.

I have no idea of the benefits these days, so I plead complete ignorance! :p

Well you're not in the South East.. so i don't think the South East Knitting Cir... sorry DJ Association would be of much interest or use to you. Whereas the NADJ is a national organisation with a bit more clout...

These are some of the tangibles, but it is the networking, friendship and commaraderie that is difficult to quantify. My own workload has doubled in 12 months - if you read back on my posts, early last year, they bemoan the fact, that I couldn't get bookings, other than on saturdays - this year I've got 20 non-saturday weddings plus one free saturday between now and October. At the NADJ South Wales AGM meeting last night, 15 members reported a major increase in both volume and fee level over the last 12 months.
If you haven't got a local branch - start one, NADJ will give you all the support you need - infact once a branch is established, they will also help with some funding(which in effect, is coming back to you from the membership fee).
We have generated a huge amount of industry interest through our tradeshow, and have manufacturers and distributors clambering to get involved - this is going to be a huge year for NADJ - don't get left behind.

As Darren points out you can send the PAT certificate at a later date simply select within 30 days option on the sign up screen.

SEDA is the South Eastern Discotheque Association but I believe they do accept members from all over the UK it's just there meetings are held in one location were as the NADJ have them in various places throughout the UK. We are always helping out groups of members get together so the amount of location NADJ meetings will always increase and eventually there will be one fairly local to everyone.

As the NADJ membership grows so will the local structure and also the number of benefits we can negotiate for members will also increase.

How can you see a new bit of kit on an online forum, you can read a review or watch a movie but when you see it live it's a different story.

Interesting isn't it - I've already suggested that I would be interested in finding out about a local branch and Adrian lives about 40 minutes away - now there's a challenge if ever I saw one!

If you are interested in a local branch then you need to get in contact with Derek Pengelly (if you haven't done so already).

Derek is now focusing on helping as many local branches form as possible.

SEDA is indeed regional, and despite our little April fool (http://www.seda.org.uk/documents/SEDAPR04-2007.pdf) announcing we were going National and International, we have absolutely no reason to as all our members are in the South East. The fact we are regional is one of the reasons why the show nights are so well attended, and our members benefit from this enormously. Of course, those who attend the NADJ regional meetings will also tell you the same thing.
