how many people on this forum have more than one show

I have enough equipment to put out two rigs, but don't at the moment. Much less hassle to pass work onto people who have their own gear, which i do maybe once or twice a month at the moment.

I have enough gear for 3 if not 4 shows.... The main problem being that finding people you trust to lok after your gear as if it were there own.... Far easier to just pass bookings to people who already have the kit...

Oh yeah and errrr bookings lol.... at the moment i can support myself and anything i'm booked for gets passed to a select few i trust and pass me stuff but it would take a hell of allot more advertising to fill the diary enough for 2 possible 3 others!

Our large setup, can easily be split into two to make two small to medium sized setups, and we do it (being a partnership) it happens on occassion.

If we need to put on two big setups, we on occassion hire out (i.e extra speakers/amps). Haven't as yet hired extra lighting though....

The other thing, is that most Djs that would do a good job would have their own gear anyway, so wouldn't want to work for less and use yours.

I think its better to stick to djing yourself after all its normally the dj that someone will book after seeing you in action rather than a dj company with many djs working for them.
so thats why i never will have anyone else but me working for soundmaster

I have one guy who I will always pass work onto and he's never let me down. I've organised with him to baby-sit my business whlist I'm in the UK.

We have a number of repeat customers who are happy for us to supply any DJ as they know they will be of a certain standard. I can count on the fingers of one hand clients who have actually asked for a specific DJ again.

Im keeping to just the one show that I can vary in size too much hassle having anymore. did that working for someone years ago with 6 on the go. It was complete nightmare setting up and breaking them all down. My cordination skills were brilliant but the workers and DJ's were lazy so n sos

I run one show but during the xmas period i have two out. At the end of the day customers don't mind what equipment you use for there event as long as its a great night. Its the dj that makes an event not the gear he has.

I could do 3 high quality shows and 1 good enough on the same night if needed. The only problem that I would have if all were out at the same time would be that I would be pretty nervous at not having back up stuff.
Whenever I do a function, I always have my actives set up too alongside my amp and passives just in case an amp goes down.
I am a bit of a worry guts though and it may seem a bit OTT but I have boxes with everything that is needed for each set up (eg: Spare bulbs, gaffer tape, clamps, leads etc..).

I agree with what was said above and it was evident in an email I received this morning. Words to the effect of "Gary, could you or one of your staff supply me with a high quality disco?" - Now, I don't have 'staff' as such so when I called them back and told them this, they said "Have you got anyone of the same quality as you if you aren't available?" - To me, that's a big compliment.

More specifically, it's the music the DJ plays.

I can't remember the last time I was complimented on my lightshow, equipment, or mic usage...but I'm ALWAYS being complimented on the music I play.
