Last night, I did a 40th Birthday party for about 220 guests. They had already supplied a number of requests and I had received a number of other requests, the other day, from one of the hostess' friends (nothing really out of the ordinairy except for Runrig's Loch Lomond).
I took a lot of requests last night from a number of other guests BUT there were at least half a dozen of them who would ask for their track and then, five minutes later, would come back and ask for it again. It wasn't the normal, "you haven't played my request yet, when are you going to play it" but they would just ask for it again.
Was there something in the drink that made people forgetful !!!!

You should have said, No I haven't got that one, the second time! That would have messed with their heads!

How did RUNRIG go down?
I had a 'gentleman' ask for everything that Frankie Goes To Hollywood had ever recorded during last nights gig - kept coming up every 15 mins with another obscure album track........I was lovin' that! Great gig though......chocolate fountain and everything!:D

The client supplied me with a 6.30 minute live version and it went down very, very well.

I hate it when people can't wait. Example: Someone asks for Motorhead when you are playing a Disco set...or like the other day, I was doing an Indie Night and some (very cute) girl came up and asked if I had any Yeah Yeah Yeahs...within minutes I was playing a track called 'Date with the night' for her. About 15 minutes later she came up again and said "Have you got any Yeah Yeah Yeahs?" - "Yeah!" I replied, "You know I have as I've only just played them" and she thought I was being nasty!!!
On a different subject (although similar), I also hate it when you are doing a birthday party for someone and that someone thinks that they can tell you what to do (in a way that's ok as they have booked you and are paying your wages but..) and says "play this next!"..no manners, nothing!

Yep I've given the reply "Apart from the one I played an hour ago & the one I''ve just finished playing?"
Also, what's with the pillock who hears a track by a particular artist & then decides to ask for half a dozen tracks by the same artist?

or ..... you get given a playlist with basically an entire album from 1 artist on it. the one I love is..
"Can you play xxx please, oh and can you play it soon as we are wanting to go" mmmmm let me think????

"Sorry I'm more concerned with what the people who are staying want to hear" usually does the trick.
