Western Digital 120GB Passport V2-Will the cable fit my laptop?

Just bought a Western Digital 120GB Passport V2 online and now I'm concerned that the usb cable is different to what my acer 1522 can take.Does anyone know if it will fit or do I need to get another cable?

Your computer should have standard USB type A slot on it this will either be USB1.1 or USB2 either way it should work fine the only thing is if it's USB1.1 it will be slower than USB2

Just checked the speck on the hard drive and that is USB2 and unless the lappy is old I would guess it's probably also USB2 if you post a model number I can check.

The only thing I would say is if at all possible use a powersupply to remove the potential for getting power issues, however I have used an external 2.5 HD on bus power and it's been fine.

Sure its not a firewire drive? they look different to usb one?

Had a look on the WD site and as far as I can see it's defo only available in USB2

It should be the right cable then, and should fit the laptop. If not you may need an adapter. You may have female connector instead of male end or even mini usb.

Can't say I have seen anything different than the standard USB connector type - that's the beauty of it, it's universal!!

Just checked both the hard drive and the laptop have USB 2 ports.
