If I add a vid clip with a file size of 3mb to my site is that likely to slow down
loading-viewing etc--I know I can experiment but just wondered if someone could confirm likely effect.
I used Front Page for building the site,
thanks

There are many ways to add video to your site. First you have to decide which format you wan to use - Windows Media, Quicktime or Flash are the 3 main ones. Then you have to find a balance between compression (file size) and quality.
The quickest and easiest way to add video to your site is probably to do it through Youtube, to be perfectly honest.

Or Google's Picasa. Then you can keep video alongside photos etc. and the user interface is a lot less cluttered.

You Tube?????????????????????
Isnt that a bit downmarket?
I always think of that as a place where a lot of things in bad taste are shown--other than Spins Lighting of course --or am I wrong?
Im looking at Upmarket venues and customers for promoting my Wedding services :D
It just doesnt add up to me.

As an alternative to youtube you could try photobucket (http://photobucket.com/). They allow video uploads as well as image.

You don't need to send your visitors to Youtube, you can embed a Youtube video into your site (one that springs to mind is BBoy-Nash's (http://www.bboy-crew.co.uk/gallery.htm)).
EDIT: But you're right, Youtube is a bit downmarket. I said it was quick and easy, not classy! The most professional solution is probably to do it all yourself in either flash, WMV or Quicktime format as I said before. Try not to force video on a visitor, it shouldn't play automatically but rather an option a click away.
