Play your cards right platform

I need to get hold of a platform for doing play your cards right type games - predicting the next card type scenario.

It need to be foldable and reasonably light.

Any ideas guys?

I imagine it would be pretty easy to make one. All you would need is something like an Artists Easel, plus a large board with a few horizontal strips of wood to hold the playing cards. A lick of paint and you'd be sorted!. For the cards, just scan a pack of playing cards and print them out A5 size. Maybe laminate them to give them some rigidity.

Yes just a large board paint it , some wood going across for your cards and ding dang doo! cards you can buy them on the net i guess or just print them off as Shaun said. Ive got a video of my mate he uses one for pub quiz night on thursdays looks nice and goes down well with the punters.

The best thing to do is to make your own...thats what I did & it's very easy.

Mine has 2 legs at the front and a leg at the back which folds out, so in effect it has a built in stand.

The other advantage of making your own is that it can be the exact size for your requirements depending on how many cards you will be using. I use 8 cards, so I have room for 2 rows of 4 cards with a small gap between them.

I even have slots in the strips of wood which the cards sit on - to make them easier to get hold of to turn over & to stop them falling off.

last time id did play your cards right i used a cdg system and a big screen, think it came from karaoketools.

:cool: Yes, I know you mentioned that, but others may be interested in this thread too, and may be thinking along the same lines, and buying a set is surely easier than scanning a whole pack of cards, touching up the images and then enlarging, printing & laminating :eek: LoL

The higher / lower bit is basically it!

A number of cards are dealt onto the board face down, and the participant has to guess whether each card will be higher or lower than the previous one. The minute they get one wrong, the game is over. If they get all the way through to the last card, then win!

Do you still do the pair thing ...you get nothing for a pair in this game and also freeze.....to spin the game out..:)

Yes - I do the "Nothing for a pair" thing, so 2 consecutive cards the same & they are out!

I don't bother with the freeze thing though.

I used to do the cards after my Thursday quiz. I just sold raffle tickets for £1 each, and drew out a ticket to find out who would play. If they got to the last (8th) card, they won. If not, the money rolled over to the following week.

One week (when it had been rolling over for a quite a while) somebody won just under £500.

Not bad for a £1 stake!

When I did play your cards right, people always asked where my dolly dealer was!

Usually, I just dealt the cards myself, but sometimes I would spot a female that I fancied, and talk her into doing the dealing for me!

I'm not sure how many of them were single & how many weren't, but I was only asking them to deal some cards...not chatting them up, so I managed to avoid any marks from a chav!

I can tell you, they are EXCELLENT nights...particularly if the prize has rolled over for a while & built up to several hundred pounds.

You get everyone in the pub shouting out "higher" or "lower" - and it creates a brilliant atmosphere.
