Its nice i like it i dont think it would be good for discos but if you do light hire for small concerts etc then it would be good for that kind of thing.

Personally....I think it's awesome!!. Not too sure how many gigs you could actually use it, but it's definitely an eye-catching focal point for those BIG events. I LIKE IT!!

How easy do you think it would be to change and fit in smaller venues then?

I am assuming it will go for way to much money, but if I think about how much I am planning to spend on a set of powerdrive winch stands and trilite, I'm guessing this would work out about the same sort of price?

2.7m isn't really that tall is it, I'm sure I usually winch my current stands up to that sort of height. I think the main issue was the width - 5.7m. Not sure that would fit, but couldn't I set it up over the dance floor instead of over me?

From a business point of view heres some searching questions--

How many venues will it fit into? How many times will it stay at home?

How will you cope if the Roadie goes sick and you have to put it up yourself?

How many Marquees will it fit into----none mostly and thats where theres a lot of money for Weddings, if they can afford a proper marquee your in the right client bracket :D

How long to set up and take down--this is for a Band--they have 5 or six people to do that--extra Roadies needed?

How many venues get awkward about getting cleared out the place by a certain time--lots in my experience--this isnt going to speed things up.

How much room in the van--will it fit?

How much more money will you make using it? If you can?

How will you demo it to potential customers?

A photo or vid isnt going to really show it in its BEST LIGHT --alright ill get my coat!

You see and herein lies part of the problem. Not really the how long would it take to set up, but maybe the market that is dictating the gig? I would guess, if I was doing Funky house nights, or large corporate functions, or playing alongside bands, there would be absolutely no question about this set up. To be fair I have been toying with the idea of a smaller "goalpost" made up from just trussing anyway. But actually, when you get to the really well paid and high end wedding work, a lot of them don't actually even expect or consider that you might have lighting anyway, let alone a wembley sized arrangement.

I wonder if the top end wedding market are actually sending out the "less is more" message. After all I already know that most clients couldn't give a stuff about the lights.

However I am extremely tempted - someone put me off a little more (or encourage me).

However if you're going to encourage me, maybe those who have already decided to bid on it would like to hold there hands up?

By the way Crazy, would you be able to pick it up for me - local to you isn't it? LOL!

Interesting thought. The honest answer is I DO need a new goalpost / lighting support and I WAS planning to spend about £450 on that.

However, It'll probably go for way more than I can afford, but the thoughts there

When you consider that most Ultimax / Giraffe style stands have the cross bar at around 6'6" - 7' high (minimum) & a double decker bus is approx 30' long, it's not that big.

I already have one of these......bought an old nightclub circle and modified it slightly than the one it on e-bay.
it has it's plus and minuses.
on the plus side it looks great in a large hall and mine is broken into 5 parts which takes 15/20 mins to erect
the downfall is having to go to every function suite before hand with a measuring tape
i must be honest and say its plain simple laziness that keeps it hanging in the outhouse most of the time.
i never paid half what its at on e-bay right now so i would call it a good investment at the time.
Oh and you need to have a set of ladders with you and a strong head for heights
