EQ help!!

These are the settings on my equaliser a DJ freind on mine said the settings are causing there to be to much base coming out of my tolp speakers.He suggested that i set the all in a flat line wht do you guys think??:confused:

Yes they do seem to be a high.

Your hearing can get used to the bass settings settings so even though they may be too high, when you reduce the levels, it can sound like the bass is lacking.

The low bass frequencies consume the most power so if you have them too high, the amp is more likely to clip and damage the speakers.

If you are listening to the setup at low volume then you may need to emphasize the bass a bit more but at higher volumes, you should need less.

If you are standing behind the speakers, it won't sound as loud as it is in front so make sure you walk round to the front when setting up.

Frequencies below 30hz are not audible so boosting anything at that level or below is a waste of power.

Try running the system with the bass levels set right at the bottom and let your hearing get used to it. Then push them up to the the middle 0db.

Phill, try it a bit more like this.

If you have the dosh get a cross-over & another amp so you can bi-amp. just ask if you need any help on the bi-amp issue you can do it quite cheaply if you know where to get the kit.

I got to admit I really don't like graphics in the hands of Dj's or anyone without the knowledge to set them up!

lets face it not many people know how to set them up or have the proper equipment to do it and mostly put a nice smiley face on them which normally makes everything distort,

I've seen so much damage done to some really expensive equipment with these things (including my own system by a Dj who thought he knew better than my Klark tecnik spectrum analiser) so if you don't understand it don't use it.
and tony's right get yourself a crossover you'll find your system sounds better even without the eq

Whereas I'd like a good graphic so I can ring-tune the room, but then I have a fair idea as to what I'm doing. Meantime my DBX signal processor pre-amp is nice :D
