cd deck or dual

:beer1: I have sorted out my sound system on what i want to get, but now iv got to decide on what cd player to buy. At the moment i have a a pioneer cdj 800mk2 and considering buying another and a mixer to make up that set up. Or should i go for a dual cd player like a numark CDN-90 or denon DND4500 go down that route with them or go for my pioneer set up. what you think guys...:confused: :confused: :confused:

ive just gone from dual cd deck to 2 axis 9s using them for first time tomorrow so let you know , always prefered the notion of 2 separate units as with dual if it goes it goes .... with single units if you really had to you could limp through a gig , if you didnt have back up of any kind which im sure we all have.

heard they are good, as i already got a pioneer cdj might aswell make it a pair and use that, plus i feel i would have more control with my pioneer as then can mess around more with the mixing side of things make it bit more entertaining than just dropping a tune. i like to be involved in the mixing not just pushing a button. some people may like it other way round all have different views. :)

thats what i plan to do with the axis start to play around more teach myself to beatmix hopefully one day.

i can beat mix have been able to last 8 years, at home i got 2 techincs 1200s and pioneer all conected thats why gonna go for another pioneer as i dont want to lose that feel of being in control and even if some songs are different bpm you can still have fun in mixing them, cue them up at different points etc. good luck mate let me know how it goes.

I have a table top and rackmount setup, and both have advantages to be honest. There's nothing that you can do on one and not the other really.

I have nearly always used Dual Players as I find that it normally takes less set-up time, and takes up less room. I did use some Denon separets for a while, but then went back to the Dual model. The functions for both are, nowadays, very similar in my view.

Well, for mobile use, rackmount setups are so much more practical, as you can rack your decks, mixer, amp (and anything else you might use - wireless mic receiver/DMX controller/EQ unit/karaoke gear etc) into one 'open-and-play' flightcase ;)

I use my beat keepr on my d2's, but only when playing to younger croud 16 - 21 type parties. Any other time people dont really notice.

Thats not quite true.

Its extremely unlikely for a dual cd player to pack up completely, so usually you'll still have one player left.

Well over 90% of the time, only ONE of the players will pack up - as it's usually a mechanical problem.

I've had dual CD players go wrong at least half a dozen times over the years, but i've never had BOTH players pack up at the same time.

I carry a spare single desktop player too, which I plug into the mixer if one of the players in my dual unit goes wonky!

Thanks for that Rob i have learned something today already ... so my fear has been unfounded which is always good . thanks for clearing that up i always assumed that being one unit if something died the whole lot died.

Both sides would fail if the power supply unit died, but I've never heard of anything like that happening to any dual CD deck.

Essentially, they are 2 seperate players in one casing.
