Web Site Changes- Comments Please

Hello all,

With help from a few MDD members I've played around with the photos on the site, added a few more, and made a few other changes to http://www.londonweddingdisco.co.uk.

What I would now like is any comments about what else you think could be improved about the site as I plan to develop it further over the next few weeks.

I know some of you don't agree with the text, but it seems to work and I think it sums us up, but any other comments would be appreciated.

Thanks also to those of you who helped with my photo "issue"- I think it should be sorted now.

1. Lose the frames. It's bad for search engines, bookmarking and sending peple links (for example, can you give me a link directly to your Phots page?).

2. About Us - at the end - "at least that's what the people in the picture below seemed to think" - you've moved the picture!

3. Your images - should have ALT and / or TITLE tags on them. For some reason an image on the "About Us" page and both on the "Photos" page link to your homepage? This is especially annoying on the photos page, as you expect an enlarged image.

4. Page Titles - I'd give each page a relevant <TITLE> tag.

5. Contact Us - could do with a form.

thanks marc- I've amended the about us page.

the frames comment I agree with, but I'm not sure if I could get something that looks as good if I changed it- my html is somewhat limited.

I've always avoided forms as I prefer to get people on the phone to sell the service to them, and also because I don't think i could do one that would be decent enough.

Overall I think it's very good, apart from a couple of things.

The main problem for me is the scrolling text WITHIN each page. Why not just have the whole page scrolling?

Secondly, you have your phone number as 0208 547 1187 which is wrong. It should be 020 8547 1187. The code for London is 020, and the 8 is the first digit of your actual phone number. I know there are loads of people who make this mistake, it's just something that annoys me!

I even saw a TV quiz show once which had the question "Which city has the phone codes 0207 and 0208?" The answer was given as London, which is wrong. The correct answer is NONE!

The phone number I will probably take off anyway as I am never in.

The first point I agree with, but my skills are limited when it comes to HTML.
I'll have a play when I make the other changes.

It's the frames that's causing this scrolling. It's actually easier (in my opinion) to design without frames, the only reason you've done it (as far as I can tell) is to "mask" one domain inside another, i.e. one domain forwarded to another to save on the hosting :confused:

Pretty much.

I have a domain, but not for my discos, but I can still "forward" the domain even if I take out the frames.

The reason was more that when I created the original site that was how I was advised to do it.

I imagine it would be a fair bit of work to unframe it, but am happy to have a stab if this is not correct???

I take it that you're editing the site locally (on your PC) and uploading to your webspace?

If so, it'll actually be fairly easy to unframe it.

its all on my pc and then ftp'd to the host.

i may do a bit of reading on this....
