My son is driving me mad....he has got the DJ bug and fancies starting up doing schools and non licenced venues...my problem is that I dont want to invest too much money on equipment because after the novilty has worn off and he realises just how much hard work is involved I will be left with additional gear that I dont really need.
At the same time I dont want to risk him using my gear because of the obvious reasons...anyway I have been looking at the cd/mixer packages for easy transportation [ie the NUMARK or KAM which come complete with carry case] and also the cost...any advise on which one to go for?:bang: looking at around the £400-£500 mark....also something that I could use as a back up once he has moved onto something new?....So to put it in a 'nut shell' a decent bit of reliable kit which wont be a complete waste of money...any help would be much appreciated...cheers Alan.

Why not buy second hand? Much cheaper that way. Cheapest all in ones seem to be a brand called American DJ.

I would recomend a Numark CDMIX 3. My son uses a CDMIX 2 which I used to use as a back up unit. Straight forward, light, compact and if you buy the numark case, pretty sturdy.

or why not try looking through ebay to grap yourself a bargain, there loads of seperates, so you could possibly get fairly decent bits and put them all together:

For a mixer the price is between £40 to about £100
For a cd player its about £70 to £200

Going to need a PA system? Lighting, etc.
