What do you use for all your wire/cables to cart them around in. Being as they are possibly the weakest link in the chain and spares are a must, what do you use to cart them around.

I have used wooden boxes, but way to heavy, and used all manner of plastic boxes some unbreakable, they broke, perhaps over loaded, even used a proper wire box made of welded plastic with a metal band around the top, made by the same people that make flight caes for lights, the bottom fell out of that too, I even tried seperating the cables into smaller boxes, audio in one and power in the other, that just made a mess and after a while the boxes broke too, think I shall try a plastic tool box next with wheels on it, so the wife can pull it around like a shopping trolly.

A big sturdy sports bag - audio, DMX, and power cables, small audio controller, small box of adapters and light-mounting bolts, etc, and spares of all - the zip busted, but still kinda works - that's all.

Because I mix and match my effects quite a lot, I try to keep relevant power/DMX leads in the flightcases or bags with the individual effects, along with any clamps, allen keys etc. necessary for that device.

There's room in my wheeled mixer rack for speaker leads and bulgin cables etc on the laptop shelf, as obviously the laptop isn't stored in "the truck" as we call it during transit.

I use one of those cheapo B+Q plastic stackable foldable crates for the leftover cables and replace it when it breaks. For £2.50 I probably get a year's use out of it. Another for mics, controllers etc. and a third for peripherals like spares, game props, glowsticks etc.

Plastic box with a lid - slightly cracked now, but after 3 years I can't complain. I also seperate mains and control with the control in a CD flight case with the dividers removed!

I use a plastic container that you can pick up in any cheap shop cost around £10 but has done me well so far.

A much less sophisticated version of this--small secondhand zip up suitcase on wheels you can pull behind you--

Spares carried but not normally needed go in a Teso bag in my Car Roof Top Box and stay there--unless needed.:D

For small gigs use big flexible Sports bag--like Alan /Prop HC.

I invested heavily, went to macro and purchased two "un breakable" plastic boxes (one for music and the other for cables), well I hope they're un breakable a picture of a mini was being supported on top of them :) So the £5 a box was well spent, and still going (had them 3 months now).

And well, can't beat plastic boxes so got another huge one from woolworths... More cables :)

Previous specialist systems where used to carry items, ie sainsburys or tesco plastic bags ;)

All my cables are in an old suitcase, as it can easily be carried in one hand by it's handle, it's light, and the bottom can't fall out...I can't think of anything better!

I use an LP case myself. Just about fits in it. Was thinking of going bag though as cables have to be tightly wound to get into case .

I must carry way to many cables, could never get them in a LP box:D

All my lights have moulded cables and the cd player+mixer cables stay in the flightcase. The amplifiers power cables and spaeker leads go in the same box as the amplifier. Sorted.

i use 3 different sized plactic boxes, the biggest has all my extension leads/plug boards in the bottom covered by a sheet and has the kettle leads on top. the other two boxes are homes to my light/bulgin cables and controller, and also the dmx/xlr cables, when they are emptyish they fit inside each other for storage during the gig.

I use TESCO 'type' food creates for many things.............the ones that stack and also fit in side each other (possesion is an offence, usually dark green & free!! :D ). Been using one for my multicores, power leads, speaker leads and IEC's for over 8 years - not even a scratch on it.

I have a mini stucco flight case for my DMX, signal & mic leads, it also holds my Mics, Headphones, back-up mixer & back-up DMX controller, Bulbs etc. & anything a bit sensitive. :)

i use like mini suit cases kind of thing, one for sound cables, one for lighting, one for spare stuff.
