Ricesnaps and the Wembley Arch

I had the great pleasure of meeting Ricesnaps, Matt, Saturday night for a wedding reception at a lovely venue on The Essex borders. The venue was a converted barn out in the middle of nowhere close to the owners stately home.

We arrived at 5pm. I had stopped at a junction to check the directions when the Revelation Road Show van appeared so I followed him for the last part of the way. In true wedding tradition, they were running late but while we were waiting for the wedding breakfast to finish, it gave us time to assemble the main part of the Wembley arch outside. It also gave an opportunity to chat to the venue manager and staff as well as some of the guests who popped outside for a ciggy.

The arch didn't take long to bolt together. As soon as the guests vacated the hall, we moved everything in and was set up in about an hour.

Following comments on the last set up, the lights were all higher up on the arch and in real life it did look quite good.

The guests were pretty tired out after a long day but there was a steady flow of people on the dance floor. Some that were glued to their seats joined in by waving arms around to tracks like Queens We Will Rock You and singing along. They were a difficult crowd to please at times, a genre that would get them up dancing would suddenly lose popularity but Matt was quick to come up with another floorfiller to get them back again.

The evening ended with a few cheers and chants for more. There were lots of good comments from the guests and Matt put on a star performance. Nothing was too much trouble for him from guests requests to management requirements (no bass bins because the owners had previously complained!).

It was a very enjoyable evening. Unfortunately the pictures I took haven't come out too well but perhaps Ricesnaps will post some he took later.

Pig of a journey home though. Absolute pea souper and maximum speed for most of the way home was 35mph because of the fog. The only damper on an otherwise excellent evening.

Not to bothered at looking at rigs (but do look at them) but I do like to see pictures of people haveing a good time.

Before we go any further, a huge thanks to Tony for putting yourself out to help out. Really really apreciated. The £20 for the even nicer comments and this thread is in the post! lol!!!! :beer1:

Anyway, my pics were marginally worse than Tony's, but I DID get a rig pic. To be fair, having taking on board the comments from last time, it looks great!

Actually it's only 16 foot end to end and 9 foot tall!

Use IEC male to female power leads - seperate power to each unit.

That looks fantastic, and the lights certainly look more level now. In the words of The Ones - 'Absolutely Flawless' ;)

Yeah I think the arch adds a more professional look than standard goalpoast type trussing. May look for some new trussing myself now.

You have a slight problem here Rob, I never suggested I could spell and indeed it is something I struggle with - really should use the google spell thing!

However, I believe this arguments revolved around you not actually listening to what you were told. In fact, maybe I should stand corrected. I guess you do listen, but unfortunately you do seem to only actually here what you want to here, not what you are actually told!

How do I know? Becauce I'm afraid I am exactly the same (although I hope I am trying hard to change that)

When asking for advice or suggestions, I listen to what EVERYONE has to say before deciding who I agree with & what action I will take.

Rob, rob, rob.....

Sometimes it's hard isn't it. I have already quite openly made it clear that I often at time hear what i want to hear and fail to listen to what other are telling me. In fact I often wander off and do exactly what i WANT to do rather than what is recomended.

Difference here though is that i actaully know that I'm doing that and am actively trying to change my mindset.
