just had a conversation with a friend of mine regarding a gig he did some time ago!

the gig went well and he packed up his kit and started of home,
at about 3am he was sitting at some traffic lights when the door to his van opened and he was hit with something hard!

The person (whom apparantly had a "wanna buy a dagg" accent) then pulled him out of the van and made of with the van compleat with about £3000 worth of his kit
so when leaving a venue keep an eye on whos behind you & lock all your doors.

I always use the internal central locking switch whenever im in the car with the gear.
Me and my dad used to DJ in portsmouth and we stoppped at some traffic lights and some drunks opened trhe doors . Turned out they thought we were a taxi as we drove a vauxhall cavalier and it was the most common car used for taxis down south. Didnt amount to anything but shook us up a bit. Ever since drive with locks on.

That's a fair comment Al, but I'm with Colin.

I think there's more chance of me being "van" jacked than there is of having an accident & the fire brigade not being able to get me out...so the door stays locked!

i think if the emergency services need to get you out, they are not going to be stopped by the doors being locked.
the main issue is if you crash and a member of the public needs to get you out, but i'd rather take a chance that they could fnid a rock or a suitable window smashing implement....

Which is exactly why I got out of London(Leytonstone) back in 2000 and moved to Dorset! We got a better class of nutter down here. :D

Still lock my van doors though, don't want them there scare-crows getting me :eek:

After being brought up in South London and now living in Belfast my doors have been locked for a very very long time now, even on the shortest of trips.

Have seen some "interesting" goings on in both cities.

They are a funny lot around here as you know. I've never had my car stolen but had the above done several times...not kicked every panal in but close to it. Changed locks, new tyres, new radio but never had to report it stolen.

That's strange....i'm not being funny and please any young people reading don't take offence - I think the kids are just...bored around here so they kick :Censored: out of cars around here....:shrug:

As some of the post's before have said they lock there doors I also lock all my doors when travelling.

I also lock my car up with every pice of eqipment I pack....:eek: ...strange I know but that's what I do.

I lived in Brighton for over 27 years and moved away and I think that security thing has just followed.

I am also aware of what goes on at night time and do keep my wits about me all the time.:)

I centrally lock my van after every trip, almost regardles of where I am... all it takes is one guest and a taxi turning up between trips to the van, with gear, and I'm down [insert hardware here].
