Well with 6 days to go are we all excited, not looking forward to it, apprehensive or just non plussed about it (can't see that one applying to anybody on here). As a 'nonny' I must say I'm up for it. Opinions please http://planetsmilies.net/happy-smiley-770.gif

I seriously and sincerely wish you the best of luck. That's a long time to have a habit, I would guess it's WHY you want to give up that will drive you, again all the best.

Good luck...btw...I do smoke but usually only after a pint but that looks out the window now.
Has anyone noticed these sign's now in the window saying 'You cannot smoke in here it's against the law'....had to laugh at one of these as I went to fill my car up and the kiosk has one on the door.... how stupid is that....PC I think.
Ask the cashier why do you have that and there reply was 'To protect us'...my reply was if someone was smoking in here I don't think that little sticker is going to protect you?

Good luck with that!
I stopped through a hypnotherapist after about 17 years, I was on 40+ a day. That was nearly 4 years ago now (I think - stopped counting!) :)
You have to really want to stop though.

Best of luck Darren.
I went to a hypnotherapist too. I was like Marc, I smoked 40+ a day. The ONLY reason I went to the hypnotherapist is because Marc went and quit, and I thought if he can do it so can I....lol. I was very sceptical about hypnotherapy, but it's almost 4 years since I've quit and I've never looked back.
Best of luck Daz. :)

The Methodist Church where I run a line dance class on Mondays have had to put up signs by law. How ridiculous! When is the last time you saw anyone smoke in a church. It is political correctness gone mad.

I have not been to the pub today but I saw all the people sat outside. Luckily the sun was shining. What will happen in November?

It's been alright actually.
The time when I really fancy one is whilst having a drinky poos...:beer1: :(
Apart from that it hasn't really been an issue. I can be in amongst smokers and talk about it and it's fine.
I smell better and am breathing easier too and there's no more coughing fits in the morning.
How did you cope Shaun?
Do you still fancy one at any time?

I coped really well actually, the hypnosis worked like a charm. For the first few weeks I felt like I was missing something but the physical cravings weren't really there. The first week or so your body is still flushing out the toxins so it's expected if you didn't feel perfect. The first while I felt like I don't need a cig, but I could quite easily light one up and enjoy it. That passes though. Four years on I don't feel like I've ever smoked, it's great.
Keep up the good work Darren.

Sounds like things are working as perfectly as they should be at the moment. You seems to have the physical cravings on a tight leash, it's the "habit" side of the habit that you're experiencing now. That's the easiest part of the deal. It definitely passes. :approve:

I can confirm it was a thread about smoking, however a hint of joviality crept in and Rod Stewart was mentioned.
And HELL YEH am I looking forward to seeing the leggy teutonic blonde or what!http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10806.gif Shame Rod will get in the way.
Trust him to pick her!

Early indications of the smoking ban on pub quiz residencies...they are now even busier than before the ban!
My friend does a pub quiz on Sundays. He usually has about 60 punters. Last Sunday he would have had about 100...but had to turn quite a few away, as the pub only seats about 85!
Last night I had 40 in the small pub where I run my Monday quiz...which is the 4th busiest since I started last September. It was a great atmosphere & the winning team (the bass guitarist & lead singer from "Liquid Gold" and guitarist from "Mud" with his wife) were over the moon, as they hadn't won it before.
Great night all round!
:D
