Can anyone help me by suggesting decent material or links to read on the principles and setting up of amps, speakers etc, and the physics of ohms, watts etc:confused: . Please make it easy and as basic as possible, layman terms is good. Have tried to pick info from previous threads with no joy,:bang: as with all due respect, you guys seem to be at odds re some of the rules of sound!!, and how or what you use to achieve it:zip:.

I'm new to the tech side of it, back in the 80's I just used to plug in and play. But now i want to ensure all I do is professional and clients get the right experience.

Basically I'm looking to balance out my immediate problem, which is:-

newish equipment aquired:-

TOA SL122 Speakers 240w @8ohm
EV SB120 Subs 400w @8ohm
EV P600 amp 250w @4ohm or bridged 500w@8ohm
What would be the ideal amp to accompany the EV P600 to achieve status quo?.

Sorry to drone on.......:)

Firstly, that amp isn't really powerful enough for either sets of speakers.

Ideally you need an amp that puts out about 300w - 500w (at 8ohm) for the tops. And then for the subs, one that does about 400 - 800w (at 8ohm) for the subs.

Then you'd benefit from an active crossover which goes between the mixer and the amps, and sends the bass to the subs amp, and the mid/top to the mid/top amp.
