i used to have mind (they are just backup thesedays) as

head 1 - dipswitch 1 DOWN
head 2 - dipswitches 10 DOWN
head 3 - dipswitches UP (as in all off)
head 4 - dipswitches 10 DOWN

That way they all took their feed from the first one's sound to light and head 2 and 4 were reversed movement.

looks like i got some playimng around to do, but having 2 lights do opposite to other is what im looking for. did you just leave them to sound to light or controller, and dragon fly what did your light do with the switches the way you said. cheers,

Use the CA8 plugged into head 1 as dip switch 1 down means it is the control light with the controller attached...

cheers mate, can you set the light sop they just one colour, like for a first wedding dance etc, or would that be needing different controller or the dynamos just very basic.

yeah have the bottom button of the ca8 pressed so the little red light on the controller is on then press the middle button until you hit a colour of choice... It should then stay on that colour until you press it again....

does that mean you have to keep changing the switches etc or do you just use a different controller, with just the 4 dyamos would that hold in a venue for lighting, they would produce enough light for all round or would you consider adding to it. was thinkig of 2 led par cans

well as i said in the PM perhaps pick up either a couple of EVL spins or NJD datamoons... that would give you a nice show on the whole dance floor while the dynamos scan around... you would need a seperate controller for the spins or datamoons or you could just link them master/slave on sound to light without a controller....

and to answer the above questions - you only need the one CA8 you'd just change the dip switches to suit which ones you want to reverse

Do they link Dave?

I dont think the dynamos link to the ishows as far as im aware ??? not tried it for fear of exploding things lol. I usually link the dynamos and have 2 ishow 3s linked and an ishow 4 in the middle on its own.

Agreed, an intelligent Datamoon/Gobo Flower effect will fill the dance floor & will give kids something to chase(they love doing that don't they??:D) whilst the scans can sweep about.

I DMX my Datamoons if I have a special gig on and need full control but find they are just as effective used sound to light & master/slave for the less critical/can't be bovered shows.
.
In the warm-up I dip switch the master so that the dish stops with just colour sound to light with no movement, find this works just fine, keeps it a bit more subtle.

Hey Dave have you seen how bright those dynamo's are?? :D :D :D

Ok I admit they are pretty impressive for a 100w, borrowed 2 saturday and although not quite as bright as a 250w they are very very good. I was quite surprised. You win! :)

I have mine all linked togeather with the CA-8 controller in scanner 1. I have 4 set up on a goalpost stand with the 2 middle scanners with number 10 switch on so that they do the opposite of the other two scanners. I was advised to do this when I asked for help and it's really good actually. Obviously there are more things that you can experiment with but I don't have the time and think that they look good like that.

I've said before about having some other lights to 'fill out' the venue and so I use a couple of twisters on top of the speaker stacks and an Abyss aimed at the ceiling. It works for me. After christmas I may invest in either some more of these Acme Dynamos or some more Twister type lights.

I did have trouble with my CA-8 controller. I tried all of the advice I was given on here and still no joy so I sent it back and got a replacement. The suppliers said that it was actually knackered so sent me some more DMX leads for the inconvenience. They also said that sometimes it's better to turn on the scanners in the order that you have them set up...in other words...Slave first and then 2, 3 and then 4 (or whatever if you have more) as this sometimes confuses them. I tried that the other day and noticed that if I did something like 3, 2, 4 and then the slave..the controller didn't work. Turned em all off and did it properly and the controller worked perfectly...Wierd! I don't know if it's a flaw in the lights or whatever but apart from that, I can't fault them and wish I had purchased them ages ago. I also think that they are bright enough even in a really dark venue and I think 8 of them on some trussing would be pretty awesome with 4 of them doing the opposite to what the other 4 are doing.

I originally bought 8 but found it was too much and people were complaining the most I ever used was 6 in a large sports hall with 4 ishows trust me unless you are in a really big venue 8 is too many I just use 4 now with 3 ishows and seems a really versatile show suits small or larger halls. I sold the second set and have 2 dynarocks on order.
