Once again recieved a phone call an hour ago if i could do a gig tommoroow as the dj they booked let them down!!!

it always seems to be this time of year i pick the 18ths gigs up as the customer has been let down!!

does anybody else get this as it seems to be that the local djs to me are double booking and then doing the easiest gig so i seem to get all of the 18 birthday partys:rolleyes:

it seems weird though as i never get any trouble what so ever at these and djs round here just seem to be turning them down!!

Its probably because the people booking 18ths are looking for the cheapest DJ.. so its inevitable really. The only 18ths i get now, are through recomendation or from my regular rugby club, which is a shame as they're easy money for me really!

i supposse it is as you dont really have to worry about what you play cos of similar tastes also the fact that 99% of them are bladerred anyway:)

gillo i know a fair few venues and djs round me wont do 18ths because of all the grief that insues , i too have never had any real problems at 18ths to speak of, im guessing though in feb when its cold wet with not much going on an 18th at 100 quid sounds good to some of these djs, then as you say a big payer comes along ......

Many venues round here started refusing 18ths back in the mid 90's.

Same here. Very few venues in my area will accept 18th Birthdays.

one that did do them but now doesnt was due to a gig i djd at (not my fault) room is for about 100 and there must have been double that gate crash , so had to stop for 15-20 mins while they got rid of everyone without an invite ..... then at 11.15pm 2 of the function room windows came in .... probably due to those ejected earlier ... instant end to party landlord and his good lady decided there and then no more 18ths.

Shame when that sort of thing happens, the people who's party it was are probably decent folk and had their party ruined.:( But you can fully understand the venue shutting down on the spot.

The majority of my work is 18ths and club work, never had any probelms apart from getting mobbed when i get the glowsticks out! But being mobbed by loads of 17-18 year olds girls is never a bad thing for a 19 year old dj!;)

It's never a bad thing for a 39-year-old DJ either! Sadly happens less and less often these days... wonder why?

You think you've got problems at 39. Dont worry when you are as old as me all the girls think you are harmless and will flirt like mad. Unfortunately they are usually right coz whilst the brain may be willing the flesh isnt always up to it!

I had that happen a few weeks back. The daughter was a gorgeous looking 18year old who was a rock chick. She asked if I was single and I gulped and admitted that "Sorry, I'm married"....She then looked away towards her mum and shook her head and all I can say is :Censored::Censored::Censored::Censored: !! Her mum was just as gorgeous just an older version!!!
