Sold my SRM450s and DB TEch 41.15 subs and put the money towards a Bose L1 outfit of 2x L1s, 4x B1s and a packlite amp, will be here tomorrow.

Initially I will keep my SRM350s and DB Tech Sub12 for Karaoke gigs (don't fancy some drunk idiot screaming through my Bose system).

I looked at the Bose ....... went for Mackie lol thats what makes it all interesting though.

I like the low visual impact of the Bose, that would be my next buy, I suspect - excellent for when people have hired places for the way they look.

Heard mine today, they arrived late this morning. One L1 and two B1s are loud, not too bassy either, would have thought they would struggle with hard dance and RnB, but for the market I want to attract, I think they will be perfect.

I like music, not noise, and I suspect the clients I am aiming at do too!

No, LOL.

Andy Harris has a single L1 and pair of B1s, I have heard that before, also heard a single L1 with two B1s demoed at the NADJ show, but today was the first time I have heard a pair of L1s with four B1s.

I bought the second outfit mainly as a backup but also I wanted four B1s and to have bought a single L1 plus four B1s and a packlite amp would have cost £2450, I got two L1+ twin B1 outfits plus a packlite amp for £3130 which was £396 less than I should have paid as Bose do not usually allow discounted prices. They threw in a Saturday delivery too.

I seem to remember you saying that you hadn't been going long - if that's the case, spending 3k on a sound system is one hell of an investment!

About 18 months now. pretty full calender though.

I have been doing a lotof overtime in the last couple of months at work and earned about £2500 extra, add the money I got for my Mackies and all it cost me was time at work.

As Djing is a very pleasurable hobby for me, I do not mind spending the money to make my show better and my life easier. Fortuanate to be in a position to do it really.

Not yet, but I know a guy who has them (swears by them) and, as much as anything, it's the size, portability, and low visual impact (as mentioned above) that I'd be after. My audio supplier guy has a fairly low opinion of Bose overall, calling them 'a marketing company who does audio'.

There is the possibility that I might go for some Quest speakers that I've seen which are also small and discreet and make my own stands for them. Not 'til I get back from the UK, though.

They do nice clock radios, not so keen on the bigger toys though!

i think there are far to many speakers on the market a friend of mine was working with a solo singer on saturday night and the singer had some small and compact speakers 8" or 10" and where 350 watt powered and said they sounded fantastic so i am gonna get him to find out the name of them and check them out he also said the were not that expensive if there small enough then i might get 4 and add them 2 my 600w powered sub
but when i get the name i will ask you lot if u have heard them.

to me and its just a personal thing which im sure manty will disagree with i just looked at the size of the bose "bass bin" and thought theres no way you can get the same sound out of that that you can a 15 or 18 inch driver?????? and the pole things just looked like glorified home cinema speakers would be brilliant for me with the weight and everything , did have a listen to a set up a while back and just thought the mackie sounded more for want of a better word discoey.

as for propellers audio guys opinion i have heard exactly the same thing said.

Incidentally thought of you saturday night in a marquee with an arabian type theme ..... the centrepiece of the marquee ..... an enormous palm tree and ....... the biggest bong ive ever seen must have been 5ft hight!!!!:D
