Floods

Just been to set up in a marquee for tonight's wedding jolly and there were pools of water on the carpet. The venue is only 30 feet or so from a river but it got me thinking. Has anybody suffered around the south Yorks area with canceled bookings due to the floods?

Dont know but there was plenty of water in my Marquee in Hampstead ( London ) this afternoon.

Bit worrying all those electrical cables swimming in water:eek:

What happens if it gets cancelled--do you get paid?

I have a clause in my contract for if I turn up and are unable to continue due to causes beyond my control.

Well I did the gig and I was seriously worried at the outset over the safety of the dancers. The tent (easier to spell than marquee! :) ) was leaking water all over the place and then of course it was being taken onto the dance floor. Well fortunately only 2 people went over with no damage apart from ego. One was the matron of honor who had a shortish satin dress on and......... well put it this way, she blushed.

It was a good night and the B & G went away happy, job well done.

Yep, been there, done that! :D Never had a flood though, thankfully.

The strangest thing is though Tony, the river, which can be no more than 30 feet away had a really low water level. With the amount we've had of late you'd expect it to be bursting.

ive not had one cancelled but ...... 2 marquee jobs booked in this year ....... last weekend and this weekend just gone ......typical ......................... just another day in the life of someone that god hates .

I did a gig about 2 years ago for GREGGS bakers in a marquee for 1,500 people the rain was torrential all day the floor boards were floating in the marquee the show must go on they said. one advantage it was warm the audience 80% women i leave that to your imagination !
