Virtual DJ 4.3 anyone use it?

Title kind of says it all.

I use VDJ ver 1 and it has some bugs which on occasion cause a few problems so im thinking of laying some notes on the latest version.

I've been using 4.3 for a few months now and have found it to be very solid.

No problems here at all.

There is so much more you can do with regards to visuals, video and karaoke etc with VDJ and it's all included in the package.

There are a few things I dislike, but then nothing's ever going to be perfect.

That's a problem with your system then NOT virtual DJ.... I have it configured on 3 different machines of different specs and not one of them has any issues what so ever!

I have used Virtual DJ since version 3 and to suggest staying with 3 is just completely mad!!! Version 4 was a near enough a total re-write of the sound engine (making it better!) and functionality not to mention making it more stable. And that's not only me saying that but the hundreds of VDJ users and VDJ themselves.

For the money you really cant go wrong. As Darren has said not only does it do the audio side very well but it also does karaoke, video , visuals, various text and many other things... Having looked and used both PCDJ and OTS i went for VDJ as it worked out slightly cheaper but did everything and more i need.. and with the backing of numark as well (numark cue is VDJ Rebadged) you can't go wrong.

having used pcdj (red and vrm red) I to have d/l a trail version of 4.3 and it appears to be much better than pcdj, as i have cd-g and videos, plus it helps with beat matching which is handy because im kack at it.

I went the same way. I was using PCDJ and must admit for simply audio playback and the simplicity of the way it's set out, I prefered PCDJ, but there are a lot more possibilities with VDJ.

I've never used the beatmatching facility on VDJ - how does that work then Mike?

That's the lazy way out.... :p

Be careful though as it's not always correct although that can be user error too... it may well be beat locked/sync'd but doesn't always sound right which can be to VDJ getting the bar timings wrong... and i don't mean the alcohol bar... :eek: :D

well it matches the beat and bpm to the best it can... and if it starts to wonder off you press it again and it will match it again.... but as i say it doesn't always put it where it should be.... it can sometimes push it a bar or 2 forward or behind to match the beats up so can throw the whole mix out....

Defiantly better to stick to mixing manually if you can.... or at least mainly manual at least you know it will be as good as you can get then... and there is no excuse not to if you have a dac 2 or 3 or one of the other controllers for VDJ... it's what they were created for to make things more hands on.

If you click on Sync and then Automix, then yes.
If you select the option to run Automatic mixing then all you do is drag and drop tracks into a box and it will play like the old drop down stacking vinyl decks but mixed and beat matched.
Maybe version 5 will have "auto music selection for crowd types" and "auto replies to moaning gits".

Ive had a good go at the trial and it definetly has a better feel then the old v1.9 I was using and the bugs seem to have gone.
I like the way it automatically saves the music you play by dates, so if you had a great gig you can look back and see what you played etc.
All in all a great bit of kit. I think I will be buying it very soon.
