Is there a universal driver for these cables? Cant seem to find a disc or download.

Na, i,ve tried several, i guess it must be a manufacturer specific driver (rotronic).
I,ve tried their site but no joy.

You don't need a driver for a cable, it's the hardware at the end of the cable that you will need drivers for (assuming you have USB drivers already installed)

Ah remember this is a USB to Serial which mean you need to tell the PC that the lead is a serial device! which works in Binary, while the USB is digital ( That is why there is not alot of cables in a USB!) you need the drivers to "fool" the PC in to thinking that it has a Serial port on it. Its something along those lines!!
