db basic 400

anyone have db 400s, question.......do you put the volume to where the white line:confused: is on the volume control on the back. hope this makes sence cheers

I have a pair and I ignore the white line and just crank them right up. Be careful though as if you have too much bass on the eq on the mixer then they can clip but they are great little speakers and ideal for pubs etc.

Nah, seriously my protection light comes on just after the white line, I keep mine at one nick below it, always sound loud enough and fine to me.
Also keep my mixer running at 0dB.

i have found when just go past the white line they not like it, so have kept it just under then they seem perfect and good speakers. if keep bass down tend to play out bit better, saving up for a sub with them. dod you guys have a sub or anything with yours.?

Not yet, but should have a db technologies 41.15 15" sub soon.
400w rms and have xlr in & outputs.
They're well recommended and I think they'll suit the 400s. I'll let you know what it sounds like when I get it.
TBH, haven't needed a sub so far but would like the extra depth and punch.

cool, yeah let me know. so from the experience of using them you have felt that the 400s have done you well. what your max crowd size you have used your onto?

I think it depends on the shape/size of the venue.
In my own house I think they sound crap, but in a venue/hotel I'm amazed at the sound.
I've used them for about 200 people and had to be told to turn them down, I've never used them above the white volume line.
Looking forward to the sub though, just need the next two gigs past me to fund it. lol

when you get the sub stephen have to let me know how it sounds etc, cant wait til i get more money to start adding to my rig. Even my dad loves the speakers he was like turn it up turn it up...good old dads huh...:beer1:

I'm in the same postion as you at the moment, paying off equipment and loans but the sub will be a nice addition.

I used to have 2 DB 415s and used to turn the volume full up on the speakers and 1 12" 400RMs Bass Bin but have just changed this week to 2 RCF Art 10a 350 watts RMS each and kept the Bass Bin:)

think my dad wants to come gigs with me an see it in action propaly. Stepthen have you been doing gigs for long? im just starting out.
good thing is my dad works for printing firm so getting all my business cards for free and also gonna get some flyers done to. I work around all supermarkets all day checking there beer as work for scottish an newcastle so gonna be handing out cards to there organisers etc...:beer1:

Been doing friends event's for years but only been professional for about a year.
Word of mouth is the best advertising is the best as I'm sure most people on here will tell you, takes a while to build it up but worth the wait and effort!
